Just Got That NEW Prince Album !!! When you get / acquire a new Prince album, how many times do you play it ???
I usually put an album on heavy rotation, sometimes a full week just that one album.
20Ten I found I liked the first time I heard it MPLSoUND, I liked the first time I heard it. Emancpation, I loved the first time I heard it. The album I liked the first time I heard it, straight off the dome ... Peace ... & Stay Funky ...

I always make sure I can listen to the whole thing uninterupted to get the whole new experience! Then it's on repeat for at least a couple of weeks.
Always happy 1st listen but NEWS did take a couple of listens for me to get into it, now I love it

I used to have a little ritual which continued right up until NPS...id make sure my room was perfect, everything was tidy and there was nothing on the little table so that I could go out, get it, put it on with no distractions and have teh cd case on the table.
Then NPS came out and I realised...if he couldnt be arsed then neither coukd I

The title of this thread is cringe-worthy. There isn't a new Prince album. You're going to confuse pplz.

I typically listen to a new Prince album as often as I can during the first week or so that I have it. Ideally at least three spins a day. After that I try to listen to it at least once a day for the next month. By that point I'll have heard it roughly 50 times and I am ready to decide if I like it or not.
Of course for something like Emancipation or Crystal Ball (or even Lotusflow3r/MPLSoUND/Elixer) I may not be able to squeeze in that many spins in a month.

I asked myself the same question so I thought to ask the members of our great forum
Some of the threads in the PM&M section are kinda dry and I do not feel compelled to answer question asked.
If I can have one person answer my thread, then I say goal accomplished

It took me at least a dozen spins to like Lovesexy. And The Rainbow Children, well, I streamed that pile of crap once or twice on NPGMC and never went back.

The albums I NEEDED to listen to at least 50 times to actually get / love it, turned out to be my personal classics. The albums I 'got' straight after the first spin are now collecting dust somewhere. - Azif WeKare -

3 times to start off with.
Once to hear it with all the expectations of previous recordings weighed down on it.
A second to shake those off and try to hear it for the first time.
Third to see if any songs really stick.
This is usually done in the space of a few hours.
