YAY!

"When Michael Jackson is just singing and dancing, you just think this is an astonishing talent. And he has had this astounding talent all his life, but we want him to be floored as well. We really donĀ“t like the idea that he could have it all."

YAY cool

It's his most convincing attempt at New Jack Swing, modern r&b, hip hop soul or what ever U wanna call it, and I personally feel it could have been a smash back in 1994. I'm not one 4 Prince chasing or copying trends, but with that one he hit it on the head while still retaining his identity and not sounding like a carbon copy. It doesn't sound forced or like he's trying 2 sound cool or relevant 2, which I think ruins some songs (like Now, P Control, 18 & Over), but it comes off naturally and fresh (like Love Sign, Letitgo, or Space), plus it's funky as hell and his performance of it on Soul Train shows that the crowd thought it at least had a good enough beat 2 dance 2. Yay all the way 4 me!

A horrible mess. Someone should have told Prince to turn off the radio.

Nay, I listened to this recently and was just about hanging in there until the rap came in and he mentioned something about someone having the 'crazy flava'...

I'm giving it a definite YAY. Also the rehearsal of it that's circulating sounds like a cool remix without officially being one.

When eye go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all heart up in the house but when eye log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

I agree. If Prince had released this song as a single in the summer of 1994,it would have been a Top 10 smash. It totally captured the 'sound' of that period.

Yay! It's hooks me. The Bonnie opener, his opening talk, the beat, the rap. Love it still.

A big yes, for the 'titties swinging like a door' line alone

Amen! I always loved that line. That and "Like a whore, I'm yours".

The rehearsal version from May 5, 1994 featured on the Black bootleg was pretty funky as well, especially once Prince joins in and gets on that bass!

This is a GREAT setlist, I'd love to have that. He could do this setlist at a show and I'd be sooooo happy!!!

One of my favorites from the era. I made a disc with the outtakes of the Gold Experience era stuff that flows very well. smile I also cut out most of the parts with the NPG operator and edited down Days of Wild to allow this to fit on one disc. Some of the other songs are slightly edited to flow from song to song.

It's a shame that Acknowledge Me was never included on The Gold Experience album.

With that said, I vote yay.

I like it tho I do feel music as a whole in the 90s was a bit er chunky and cheap. Prince was definitely part of that sound. What does get me about this song tho is that I feel this a perfect example of Prince getting dismissed for a catchy tune but if someone else had recorded this it probably would be perceived as quite cool. I always think this when I hear the lyrics "Catch a grenade for you" or "This is a new generation "a la Lopez and think God however much we may slag Dance 4 me or Lotus output the charts are full of absolute tripe
