FFS. Prince's talent hasn't been in doubt for 30+ years, I think he can weather this without needing to out-trend someone.

While Justin is not anywhere near in musical talent to Prince, I think it could prompt younger audiences to search for the original. Back in 1995, when I listened to TLC's version to If I was Your Girlfriend, I wasn't impressed. When I finally got to hear the original in the SOTT album, I preferred Prince's version.

i hope not..for goodness sake, the kid already tries to copy everything MJ has done..he wears tape on his fingers...he wears armbands...in his "film" michael is brought up at least 5 times.. COMPARING HIM to mj..and to be honest... i wanted to rip right through the screen.. its ridiculous...his voice would not even sound right doing purple rain?

I thought I was the only one who recognizes what Bieber is doing (copying MJ). Others say he is just respecting and honoring MJ. Bull! Say it once and shut up already!

A popular pop singer wanting to cover a popular pop song? BLASPHEMY! Really, who the hell cares? His target audience is twelve year old girls. If you're not into him, fine, he's not hurting anything, and it's Prince's signature song, a major cultural staple of a whole decade, no one's going to get it confused.
