Will.i.am: Prince is Really ‘Feeling’ the Black Eyed Peas

Will.i.am joins an all-star lineup on the red carpet at the Los Angeles premiere of "Rio" at the Grauman's Chinese Theater in Los Angeles. (April 11, 2011)

*Black Eyed Peas frontman will.i.am says their smash hit “I Gotta Feeling” will also have a special place in his heart after learning Prince is a huge fan of the song. He tells MTV, “I remember we played the song in Minnesota, and Prince was at the show, and he called me on the phone afterwards. He said, ‘Congratulations.’

“He says, ‘You know, those songs don’t come all the time. You’re blessed to have one of those songs. You know, they’re gifts.’ I was like, ‘Wow.’ For someone like Prince to tell you that, that’s bigger than a Grammy for me.”

Will.i.am admits he sees the 2009 song in a different light while singing it live. “When we perform it, in my mind, I’m like, ‘Where did that song come from?’ I can’t believe this is us, and look at all these people singing it like it’s theirs.

And I thought Prince had a great taste in music.

I like this song, but not as much as Prince does.

I hope he was just being kind. That is about the worst "hit" song of the that decade. Truly a horrible horrible song.

But "I gotte feeling" IS a good song, it puts people in a good mood. I'm not crazy about BEP, but i can understand Prince thinks it's a good song.

I don't listen to Black Eyed Peas but I have this single and I love it.

It's hard not to like, surely? Yes it's pop but so what? Just coz it's not my genre there are songs that pop up everynow and then that just everyone likes. This is one of them and it spans continents. They can't all be wrong.

It's a happy feel song you put on on Friday and warm up for the weekend.

The bass and Erratic rhythm in this song is what I like, the high Oooh hooo and the fact that it's easy to sing along to. Great vocals too. It's a super "people friendly song"

Whether or not it will be played for years, I agree that this will be what Prince was most likely referring to.

Notice that in the quote, he didn't say that he liked the song, or he thought it was a good song, funky song, etc... He said that it was a gift.

And I'm sure it was a gift for the BEP - I'm sure they got a lot more fans as a result of it being played everywhere, at special events, sporting events, ceremonies, etc...

It's a fun, uplifting, somewhat anthemic song. Good for them.

Has anyone actually heard this from Prince's mouth? Until I hear him say it, I don't believe it... that band and the will i suck dude really sucks! Their superbowl show was the worst piece of crap I've ever seen. Does he always have to use that thingy for his voice when he sings talks during his songs?? The only good thing is that chick with the wonderful ass!!

I like that song,too The Black Eyed Peas' last album 'The E.N.D.' was actually pretty good.

I love Prince, but dawmmmmm, this song sucks. Bad taste... lol , no he has a good taste, but I don't like BEP.
