Please let me know if someone has actual inside information that Prince does NOT want a star on the walk of fame?

People have posted saying that he doesn't, and that it's common sense that he doesn't because he should have had one already.

Clint Eastwood doesn't, Chuck Berry doesn't and the list goes on (http://projects.latimes.com/hollywood/star-walk/about/). Howard Stern lashed out at the walk of fame so I can understand how that assumption that he doesn't want one and why there isn't one for him. But he is VERY deserving of it for the historic aspect.

So can some one validate / verify that Prince does not (in fact) want a star on the walk of fame?

It has NOT been made common knowledge (as of yet) that Prince doesn't want a STAR on the walk of fame.

And to let you know, the Stars are Made of pink terrazzo and brass. Terrazzo is is a faux-marble flooring or countertopping material, made up of small chips of stone that are set hard in a binding material and then ground over until completely level. They are NOT considered "tile".

Maybe we can bring some meaning to having a Hollywood Star. We can have ppl sign a petition to get P a star. Show him how much it would mean to us as his fans for him to have one. Maybe (if he really didn't want one), we can show him how much he is deserving of a star. Maybe his can be purple instead (Just joking). But seriously, I think he needs a star or a damn wax statue. better looking wax statue.

i doubt prince would pay a single penny for it. He'd probably want the hollywood folks to pay him for getting a star

Totally agree that he should have one but then you have to pay for it and I think he don't really need such an expensive waste of time - we all know he is a star !!!

Personally I would have mixed feelings about having my name on a fixture of any sort on a pavement that people walk on every day - the symbolism of literally being walked all over day in, day out, really isn't pleasant.

You may think that's a little extreme or mad, but think about who we're talking about here

The point is, we don't know for certain whether he would want one or not. What we do know is that, if he places any significance on that walk of fame at all, he'd already be there (and thus, even just proving to him that he's "deserving" of something he most likely puts no value on in the first place is somewhat redundant).

I'm sure he'd appreciate the sentiment of this thread, but if anyone's even remotely serious about doing this, you could potentially be setting yourself up for a lot of time, effort and money resulting in a seriously disappointing outcome.

If, however, you're genuinely prepared for the possibility that, not only may Prince not want a star, but you may never get in contact with him or his people to even find out, then, I guess, knock yourselves out!

Still no one has given proof that he said he didn't want one. Is there an old interview somewhere? All the threads I've seen says "he doesn't want one," yet there's nothing else behind that. Maybe he doesn't care if he gets one or not. It may not be top on his list but it would still be nice. And I've said that if that's the case, fine we just raised money, by just signing our names on a petition, for a nice little charity that he's donated to. Even if the end result is no "star" we have a plan B.

The Petition

I'll be making graphics this evening if you'd like to add one to your signature. We're not asking for money, just a signature, if you'd want to support it. We'll see how it goes.

FYI. I know your stances on this but I'm one of those "just do it" type ppl. I'd rather go through it first then have someone tell me that I shouldn't do it. I like to learn by doing rather than just accept what someone says. I guess I'm hardheaded but that's me!

I realise it's redundant given everything I've just said, but can I suggest that the wording be tweaked a little to make it sound a little less...well, posthumous?

Maybe "produced ten platinum albums and thirty Top 40 singles" could be "Ten platinum albums and thirty Top 40 singles to date"?

And I would reconsider the use of the term "memorialized" too, but that's just me, and it's not my project, so I'll butt out now
