^^U have got to be kidding me geez... That's like me telling u "why don't u spend some time volunteering at local hospital instead of wasting time on Prince.org?" Are we seriously not even allowed to talk about what we think would b nice for Prince? I didn't even go far to say we should start raising money I just though the idea sounded cute.

Why don't you raise money in order to save a starving child from death?

Or donate it in order to teach girls and/or women how to read?

You can also raise the money, buy a lot of tiles and build a refuge centre for abused girls.

Yesterday, a local 9th grader sold me a $10 ticket for a car wash to benefit his school. Instead of just giving money for free, I'm actually getting something in return, and it's something that doesn't cost the students anything to give me. This gave me an idea. What if, instead of us all contributing money to benefit Prince, he could sell some product that we could all buy to promote this charitable venture? But I don't think a car wash would work, since that would be a lot of cars for Prince to wash. If only there was something else he could sell that lots of people might want to buy...

Oh well, I can't think of anything. So I'll go back to listening to those vinyl records of Prince's unremastered albums, and try to ignore the pops. lol

Well,

If we are all willing to buy a picturebooks, posters, type in fan messages on the org, t-shirts, tickets, ect., WHY NOT a Star on the walk of Fame?

Seriously, I KNOW I will never get any closer than a ticket, typing on a fan site, buying a photobook or a t-shirt or two, BUT I buy those anyway.

It pleases me to do so.

And it would please me to take a photo next to Prince's star in Hollywood.

It's a "FAN" thing.

And I would like to do something "Permenant" like that and I'ld like to be a part of a group of fans that cared enough to do something like that.

It would be purposeful way of being one of the "rainbow children" or "new power generation".

Not just standing around being in the moment being part of the "herd." but a "Cause."

Why Not?

It could be a first step to Feedsing mothers and children. Think of what Jack Johnsons' fans are doing for this planet! It's beautiful. Why can't orgers start here and then .....????

I'm totally with you on that. P donates a lot to educate kids and other charities already.

However, I personally would want to dedicate my time, energy and unknow talent to a cause that has my heart:

the position of women worldwide, despite the first two emancipation waves.

At a micro level, most loose relationship negotiations. They share the work load, however do most of the kids upbringing, running the household and build up a lesser financial base than men.

I would love to start a project to empower woman without bashing man. I think they both have responsibilities in making an effort for a peaceful life.

And I would love to start little projects in Africa. Women don't realize how disrespected they are over there. Getting beaten and/or blamed for the agressive reaction of a male is something they actual agree with. I would love to contribute to change that thinking modus.

Only the aggressor is responsible for his aggression. Nobody 'makes you do it' .

And I bet every other orger's heart has a specific topic they would want to support. So, how could we install something like that?

Most orgers are too involved with judging eachother than too even think outside their own personal drama.

Did you see 'woman are heroes' on Ted's? I would love to participate in that project. I would love to travel around the world, make the pictures of these woman purple while supporting the cause of empowering women.

However, I'm very bad at organising. Total lack of management skills.

What I would want to do, in stead of investing 30,000 $ for a tile with a name of an already famous and rich musician (no disrespect intended)

I would want to portrait strong and powerful woman, have their portrait framed in the star shape of the Hollywood walk of fame, baked into (purple) tiles and build shelter houses for woman of these tiles.

Or print them out and paste them on the buildings of the walls along that Hollywood pavement.

People walk on the star tiles while looking up to the strong women, and for that are stars and framed in the stars. While passing, the woman star tells her story, you hear all of their stories.

I would love to start a project like that. Anybody who feels like donating? I'll do it, with the help of someone who is good at planning and managing.

Your idea sounds lovely but let me tell you something, just because you have better intention, do you really think you have a right to judge people like Patti LaBelle's fans? If it comes down to donating money to charity or pitch in for star on hollywood walk of fame? Sure I'll choose to donate my money for better cause but am I still allowed to think star on hollywood walk of fame would be nice for Prince? yes and that's not even your business. As for Patti LaBelle's fans? For you they're just sick people who wasted their money for nothing and we don't know if Patti LaBelle even cared or was happy that her fans did that. But obviously they did something that meant a lot for them with their own money. It was their own choice as fandom.

Yeah, I noticed I do need to elucidate.

the "I don't do sick people" was a comment of my English neigbour when I'm sick. She is a very caring woman, however can't stand the vulnerability of sick people. So, her husband will ring my door with oranges and chocolate, because she 'doesn't do sick people'. I allways think that oneliner is extremely funny.

I guess the humor part of it got lost in translation.

I don't see at what point in time I judged Patti LaBelle's fans. To be really honest, I never heard of her.

Do you realize you are attacking me for something I never said or even thought? It's sort of your own fantasy about what I think, that got you all angry. I don't think it has that much to do with my words, does it?

hug

I think that by going to concerts and buying their music, you give these stars already a great gift. You show you apreciate their music and hear what they want to convey.

And I relate to your innate 'let's help others' impulse. I was very inspired by 'women who love too much' from Robin Norwood. I'm trying to get over my addiction lol lol

Don't worry about P, from the way he looks at stage right now, my guess is that he's fine and at a good place in his life right now.

Why don't you construct a plan for your own finances? So, in a decade, you don't have to scrape dimes to get by, you have the financial stability and that allow you to donate a star tile for P, as a signature of hope and inspiration to all his fans; to show them anything is possible and there is hope for all of you lol

But the man has been "star material" for at least 25 years. Had he wanted one, don't you think his record company would have bought him one sometime in the 15 years they were on good terms? Do you think this is the first time it's been suggested?

It's called common sense.

We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

I was wondering if anyone knows or would be interested in starting something up in getting Prince his star on the hollywood walk of fame? I think it's a disgrace that he doesn't have one and absolutely is more deserving the 90% of the stars present already.

What do you all think?

It certainly is a disgrace! Even Ryan Seacrest has a star on the walk of fame! Which is ridiculous, imo. What is wrong with people?

Which should be evidence of just how meaningless a star on the Walk of Fame really is.

Has Prince actually said that he doesn't want one?

Or are you just assuming or speaking on his behalf?

Not a knock on you; just wondering if he has stated he doesn't want a star on the walk of fame and would like to read the article or see the interview where he said he doesn't want one.

Thanks Genesia smile

alrighty!

I was asking if he specifically said that or if you were making an assumption.

I thought maybe that he said at some point he didn't want a star and if he did then I would end the topic.

Common sense? that's the whole point, him not having a star doesn't make sense (common or other wise) and it doesn't make sense of anyone to assume or speak on the behalf of someone else. I asked you if he specifically said he didn't want one, because I might not have read about it. and I certainly wouldn't want to do something for someone if they didn't want it. That is why I asked you.

A man came up 2 me, smile in his eyes
He told me I was a saint
So I'm quittin' my friends much 2 their surprise
I can't live up 2 the picture that they paint
Ah somebody help me, I'm losing control
I guess I'm just a sucker in the dream factory oh!!

Why so rude? What makes you entitled to that?

what makes you entitled? So it's ok for you to rant about what you want people to do? But when someone tells you then it's not ok?

I'm not being rude, if you want to talk about your charities for (specifically) woman then start your own post with that as the topic. This is the wrong thread for charities. Just saying.

You'r right. I did hijack the thread. I'm sorry, I thought it was already cleared up that P has no interest in a star on the Hollywood walk of fame. Sorry for that misinterpretation.

Let's get back to the important subject; get P a tile.

99% of my posts are ironic. Maybe this post sides with the other 1%.
