"Parade" documentary going out this weekend! Official thread!

UPDATE 23/04/11 - The documentary is now available!!! Listen here:

http://goo.gl/hc1jr

-------------------------------------------------------------

Hey guys - it's finally here! (Mods....a sticky would be nice biggrin)

The documentary I've been making about "Parade" as part of the XFM "25" series looking back on classic albums from 1986 will be going out this Sunday night on XFM (www.xfm.co.uk) followed by playback of the whole album in full! But we might be able to stream it online as soon as tomorrow on our Mixcloud "25" series page! I'll confirm that later today.

It's a 1 hour documentary with brand new contributions from the following people:

Matt "Dr" Fink

Brent and Clare Fischer

Bill Oddie

Brett Anderson (of the band Suede)
BBC Radio 1/Asian Network DJ Bobby Friction

Myself (S-Endz of world-reknowned electropop band Swami)

As I said before - the aim was to create a documentary that will not only be interesting to hardcore, but also to people completely unfamiliar with Prince. So with that said - you'll all be familiar with some of the things we covered, but hopefully there'll be some new insights for most of you too. It's a difficult thing to pull off - but I believe we have done it.

Can't wait for you all to hear it.

Check out the Mixcloud link above to hear the other documentaries done so far in the series - Metallica's "Master Of Puppets", Public Image Ltd's "Album" and Depeche Mode's "Black Celebration". Other episodes to come in the series later this year include The Smiths "The Queen Is Dead", Run-DMC's "Raising Hell", Beastie Boys "Licensed To Ill", Talk Talk's "The Color Of Spring" and more smile

I think he's just a fan of his music. Although, what the hell do I know, they could be best mates.

Bill is a huge fan. I sat next to him down the front of the Parade 86 shows in London. His favourite album is Dirty Mind.

Vitriol - as stated - the old threads "expire" after a certain amount of time - I did look them up and can't post in them. Otherwise, I would have.

I'll find out later today if we'll be able to stream the show on-demand tomorrow, before the radio broadcast. I was discussing the possibility of it yesterday with the series producer, so fingers crossed.

I hope you all enjoy it - as SquirrelMeat mentioned, Bill Oddie's a huge fan and his interview is great! Have yet to hear the final edit - but I believe Fink will be the "centerpiece" so to speak, as he was the closest person to the process. I interviewed him for at least 35 minutes and I would imagine we'll have used at least 15 minutes of his interview, although it'll be chopped up and spliced and placed in different sections etc smile

Squirrel - glad you enjoyed "Black Celebration". Interviewing Gareth Jones and Daniel Miller was a great experience!

This is what I don't understand. Why should not so old threads expire? I'm afraid this forum needs a programming fix.

And there is an easy solution for that: why the need to start several threads saying 'I'll be doing', 'I'm doing', 'I've done' a documentary on Parade?

Wouldn't be enough with this one?

Oh, yes, that would've prevented you from getting your much seeked attention... err

LOL. I'm not going to turn this thread into a ridiculous argument, but use some logic. I posted the initial thread because I wanted to know WHAT fans on here wanted to me ask Fink and other people I might be interviewing. And, I got feedback about what people wanted to hear, and I've asked those questions and included those specific topics in the documentary.

If I was as self-absorbed as you seem to believe, I would not have done any of that.

The second thread - admittedly - may not have been necessary, but I wanted to update the original thread as the process was in full swing and we had conducted the first few interviews. As I was unable to update the first thread, I made a new one. Maybe it wasn't necessary, but people appreciated it just the same.

Would it be possible for you to stop being so negative about every single minor issue for once? I'm REALLY sorry that I inconvenienced your life so fucking much that you felt the need to make a personal attack over multiple threads being posted. You aren't the .org police.

^ You should probably adopt an 'ignore it and it might go away' policy.

The user name isn't an accident - it's an apt description of all you can expect from that particular online persona (the irony of accusing you of attention-seeking presumably being quite lost).

The Daniel Miller insight was really good. Was an attempt made to try and get Alan Wilder interviewed?

I'm not sure, to be honest. I set up the interviews with Daniel and Gareth through a friend of mine that worked at Mute Records for a long time and was able to put me in touch with both of them directly.

Sam, the producer of the series had a connection with Brian Griffin (the photographer) and XFM handled the rest. Sam or XFM may have reached out to Alan, but I can't say for sure. I would imagine that they reached out to a few people that either turned them down or couldn't commit within the timeframe that we required as that's typically the case with each documentary.

I hope I can still listen to it later on, Millitant.

I think a lot of newbies appreciate you'r efforts, for both making it happen and posting it, so they know. Can't expect people to remember exactly all of your post, can you?

99% of my posts are ironic. Maybe this post sides with the other 1%.
