Ok here is the real deal I am Roger Lynch's cousin. Roger Lynch who is from St Paul is Roger Troutman's son and he played in Zapp. When me and little roger were teens we set up stages for Roger. Roger toured with Prince and the Time in the early 80's. This is a true story I asked roger who he looked up to and he mentioned Prince. Now this is very relevant cause Roger musically did not have any equals at the time except prince.

Musically I think Roger was better because Roger could play all the instruments Prince could and more. Roger was exceptional on everything and could also play all the wind/horn instruments including harmonica.

Creatively Prince was obviously better and had more commercial qualities.

Vocally No contest Prince.

Bottom line if you put both guys in a room Roger is a more polished all around musician with the ability to play all instruments. You very rarely see Prince credited with playing horns in fact he brings in Miles Davis and Maceo Parker when he needs horns, Roger plays his own, Ive seen him do it personally. I also met Prince when Roger toured with him, but I never talked to Prince.

Another note Roger and Prince were both signed gto Warners around the same time, and Roger had a very successful R/B funk career but never really cross over cause he never had that rock edge and couldnt really sing.

All around no one in the world has ever compared to Prince's ability to write sing produce and make music nobody.

Cool story. Got any more? cool

Oh, by the way, Prince never had Miles Davis on any of his records. It's been Eric Leeds (sax/flute), Matt Blistan (trumpet), or the Hornheadz. Yes, I'm trying to forget all about Najee. lol
