I was responding to "Prince said he's vegetarian...any thoughts? I wonder what made him go back to dairy and/or eggs again." I know nothing about Mayte's influence on Prince being a vegan sorry ^_^;

He was referring to an old joke about hot dogs being made of lips and assholes. It was a running theme in a 1980s John Candy movie, I think The Great Outdoors.

I actually think he was alluding to something worse (?) than that...

He said, "Allegedly, when you order a hotdog you get...<awkward pause>...you get...what you asked for."

I wonder if he was suggesting that a hot dog can allegedly sometimes contain...a hot dog?

No idea where he's getting his info from, but then, that's Prince lol

There's a long standing rumor that many street vendors use dog meat for hot dogs (well in Russia I'm almost 100% sure they do.). In Korea it's not even a secret that they eat dog meat, which if one form of meat that I refuse to eat. So that's how I read that comment.

As for becoming "vegetarian", and if you ask me he sounded a bit unsure as to what to call himself. Then he made that red meat announcement. I suspect Prince is back to munching on everything he can get his tiny well manicured hands on except for red meat, although he's totally missing out on all the juicy bits. wink

Also even Natalie Portman is no longer vegan, she's back to dairy and all the good stuff.

Frankly I think being vegan and/or vegetarian is on it's way out of style.

As I said above, many of us have firm moral convictions against the use of animals as food (but also as clothing, decor, etc.). For us, refusing to participate in these practices (which invariably entail the infliction of cruelty and suffering upon other living beings) is not merely a "style". I see more and more people adopting this viewpoint, not fewer and fewer, as you suggest. I see more and more people who have come to understand that there really is no moral distinction between what is done to animals in slaughterhouses and what Michael Vick was doing.

Lol I totally see ur point wink

But yeah, I see him not messing with red meat. But he couldn't help to resist the cookies and cakes smile remember that tweet where he was out with Bria for dinner, he saw a decadent chocolate piece of cake and ordered a big slice for himself to take home?? wink

And who wouldn't eat fish and especially chicken anymore?? Except for vegans/some vegetarians of course, lol

Yes, at 19, I finally saw the Revolution, a legendary band. And I talked to Wendy!!! biggrin In addition to seeing Prince, I have now lived life. Thank you Purple People!!

Oh yes, they will be rushing out and buying gallons of milk and trays of eggs as we speak.

Guzzeling them down while thanking Prince that they can now stuff themselves with cheese omelettes.

I've been a vegetarian since 1998! Working on the vegan thing.

From PETA: Cows produce milk for the same reason that humans do: to nourish their young. In order to force the animals to continue giving milk, factory farm operators typically impregnate them using artificial insemination every year. Calves are generally taken from their mothers within a day of being born—males are destined for veal crates or barren lots where they will be fattened for beef, and females are sentenced to the same fate as their mothers.

Great! It's really not that hard to make the transition. You might make some mistakes along the way (e.g., many foods that you would have expected to be dairy-free will turn out to contain milk), but that's OK. You really have to become accustomed to reading the ingredients labels of products carefully.

this may have already been said but...I'm too lazy to read all the replies right now. I even noticed he kinda shrugged his shoulders a bit and said "vegitarian, I ain't messin' with not red meat tho" (or something like that.) which to me...meant...he's eating white meat also (fish, and chicken)...not so much a vegitarian at all, more like the only thing I don't eat is red meat. (is there a name for that?)

Hey Shorty, I wondered the same thing that you wrote. Well, I guess each person kind of defines what it means for them to be a vegetarian. I'm also a vegetarian (but was never a vegan) and from what I can tell, Prince probably was thinking, "Yeah most of the time I'm a vegetarian" but perhaps every so often has fish or something like that. I guess it's like having a part-time job or something, sometimes you're there, sometimes you're not but you're still employed there, LOL! smile

Do you really believe that eating meat is ethical and tastes "juicy" but yet you wouldn't eat dog meat? I don't understand the logic, if there is any.

Someone once pointed out to me that most of the meat we eat is not from meat-eating animals. This is not totally true (esp of fish or pigs) but is true to some degree. Interesting, anyway.

Mostly I think the reason is...eating meat is gross! lol we only want to eat the familiar things, new meats are revolting to us.

I admit it, I am a meat hypocrite. I eat meat but I think the concept is disgusting. Some day maybe I will stop.

I should say, I don't think it's wrong, I think it's gross.

Yep, and it's what he obviously is: Omnivorous.

First he's a vegetarian who doesn't eat red meat, as if vegetarians consume meat at all. Then, he states how there's only one Law & Order, when there are 3.....I wonder if he looks back at his interviews and thinks: "The heck was I talking about?"

disbelief .... lol
