The best Prince "what if"

A "what if" is something that almost happened but didnt - like what if Vanity stayed on and did Purple Rain as originally planned (my favorite). Or what if Prince actually did the Bad video with MJ as proposed.

How much better would the film have been with Vanity (no diss on Apples)?

Can you picture Prince in the subway with MJ grabbing his crotch adn dancing?

What is your fav?

The bad idea, was pretty cool, but P's response was ever more cool(very funny), but i think it would have been cooler, if MJ & P worked 2gether a lil earlier than that, like they did Beat It 2gether, that would have been so cool, and gotten much attention.

as far as Vanity being in PR, no offense but rolleyes it just would have made the movie feel less like a well movie, basically i wouldnt believe vanity in apples role. shake

I think Apollonia was good in it, coz she had a very easy way about her in the role. I think a little bit of herself got into the role, especially when she gives The Kid the guitar in his room and she's like more excited than him lol Always thought that was endearing.

Thanks, I def agree. I understand he's matured. But, He was getting preachy for a little there. He's laid off that a lot. I say that because maybe some were turned off by that. Some people just want to hear the music.

I'm glad he's feeling good about himself, he looks like he's in a good place. I'm just saying "what if" about lyrical content, subject matter and such.

I love the man no matter what smile

I understand what people think they want when they say they want Prince to be like he was 30 years ago - he was the greatest young maverick genius on the planet. We had never seen anything like him. But then I look at his contemporaries - those artists who are as old or older that try to maintain the image or persona that made them famous. Almost each one is a parody of himself. I mean what does a 50+ year old man look like cursing and singing suggestive lyrics? Prince is simply too smart to play himself liek that. He doesnt have to because at the end of the dayit is about music with Prince - yeah, we cheered for the assless pants and the Telecaster that ejaculated on the crowd but geniuses have to keep moving and growing, Miles Advis understood admn personfied this like no one else in music history. A look back at his career and the revolutions of his music are nothing less than breathtaking. Prince music is still great - the context and lyrics are those of a grown man who has been there and done that and now has something to impart on the younger generations.

I gotta give you respect for that. I agree, too. All valid points smile I like that he's matured, but I think like refusing to play some of his older, maybe more suggestive stuff is almost denying that it happened. it makes me sad lol

clapping hug Yes why cant his fans, just learn and mature with him, its not like they dont have the material from his younger years to enjoy, i like 2 see prince act naughty every now and then, but i'd get incredibly upset at a man that many years deep in his career parading around like he was 30+ yrs ago shake , not 2 mention would we really want P to be making 80's music 2day???

Then i think we'd then all argue that he's holding bck artistically and he's like a broken record all his albums are all the same nothin new (some ppl r neva happy)

I def didn't mean for him to keep doing what he was doing, I meant like how would his life be different...what kind of songs would he write if he hadn't converted. Coz you know his life most likely wouldn't have ended up where it is now, not saying he would've spiraled into anything bad, but it would just be different. That's all.

I love that he's changed. He's getting better with age actually. Best concert I've ever seen was a Prince concert last month. And I like that he doesn't go for all the glitzy stage stuff, basically he had what he needed: Himself, mic, guitar, band, backup singers...and it was gravy. smile

If Larry never got involved with Prince, Dream Factory got an official release. First 10 albums got remastered by Prince & included extra artwork and all b-sides + a DVD with all videos from each release, reunited with the Revolution for 1 tour, Prince did 2 types of shows at each tour stop- an all ages, and a 21 + over show, Prince officially reissued some of the amazing old tour shirt designs (hit up Trunk in LA to do it quality right) & started doing birthday celebrations at Paisley Park open to fans to attend, and he started up the NPG Music Club again and it ran smoothly.... everyone is healed, loved, acknowledged & Prince is elevated to where he could and should be. That would be "All My Dreams"...

What if Prince had more diehard fans who appreciated his unequivocal genuis and realized that it will be another 10,000 years before another performer will have his range, mystique and sex appeal? What if Prince had more fans who didn't expect it to be 1984 forever smile Smile smileI'm happy to see Prince grow, he's an amazing artist but yes, I still skip "Everybody Loves Me", "The One" and "Jughead" when I need to smile

The popular term "the artist formely known as Prince." would have been non-exsistent LOL

besides that, not so sure it change much, maybe it meant that WB caved into his terms, and thus that music war would have never happened r vice versa

But then P has stated a few reasons 4 the name change(most being spiritual), would possibly have changed nothing musically r artistically, but just an era in P history

My "what if" is ... if Luther Vandross and Michael Jackson wouldn't both passed away in recent years, could there been a slight chance P could've worked with them in some shape or form. Whether it be producing, writing a song, or duetting? Call me crazy if you want but the facts are P said himself he admires both artists. And if you admire someone, don't in the back of your mind you come up with ways you want to work with that person. Sad!

Here's another what if... what if Jay-Z wouldn't snagged Beyonce first. You think P could've went after her.

Lastly, what if Andre Cymone wasn't inspired to do his own solo career. How long would he had been playing bass for Prince. That means we would've have seen Andre in Purple Rain instead of Brown Mark. Interesting.

Peace and be wild!

I saw a lot of "what if's" but, I didn't see the ultimate question....What if Prince's child wouldn't have passed away? I know it's a sensitve subject to talk about, but I wonder what Prince would have become as a father. How would it have effected his music? His fashion sense, his song writing, his religion, & Everything else?

Amen on the Larry stuff, I think he played puppet master when Prince had a vulnerable moment in his life and that's uncool.
