i was shocked because they overrated his death. i was a mj fan before he died and i noticed he got more awards, numbers and publicity after death than alive. They had mj in the league of the beatles and elvis for the past two years, thats why i was shocked. But other than that Michael can seriously sing and even though he was an entertainer and stole a tad of Prince swagger he should have been bumped up just a little IMHO

Prince swagger huh? I thought they both got the idea from James Brown and enhanced it differently...+_+? Michael's pimp-walk and Prince's swagger are so different XP |

i was being honest because 'dirty diana' was obviously inspired from princes 'darling nikki' the same for prince 'you got the look' and Mjs 'drive me wild' MJ also used 'diamond' as his girl in twymmf on the history tour, its pretty obvious!
& also Michael looked ALOT like prince during the bad era, i'm not trying to start a debate because its a waste of energy but i will say that I think Michael really wanted be Prince friend & record some songs together but unfortunately that didnt happen. :[ |

Hmmm....I think we have totally different thoughts and knowledge on this subject...But I appreciate your opinion.
I wish instead of MJ sticky, we could just post Michael-related subjects on Music:non Prince forum...=( I feel kind of bad for talking about Michael too much here!) |

Just keep it on topic and there's nothing to worry about. Prince and Michael have sort of parallel careers and their crews sometimes intermixed or came close to that, but there isn't much of a connection between the two that wasn't media-concocted. Because of this, it tends to get out of hand because diehard MJ fans (who tend to be a little on the softer side than P's diehard fans) will want to incessantly talk about MJ and make connections that simply don't exist. This is all my opinion. |

The only thing I like is the right imperial color and his royal posture.
His painting of P's facial features are not really impressivie.
Did you notice P is not in the top 100 greatest guitarists? The Rosenberg trio, Jan Akkerman and many more. Did I also miss Eric Clapton on that list? 99% of my posts are ironic. Maybe this post sides with the other 1%. |

Ah ah what a joke! No I hadn't noticed, good catch!
I think we should start an anti-list campaign! They are super biased and their sole purpose is to boost sales imo.

You can blame the Money-Making Machine for that: the media milked his death... 'to death' so to speak, seeing a great opportunity in a wider public interest because of his passing than his usual fan base, to make more sales, boost profits, etc.
Sad, but here goes...

Why shocked? Michael Jackson was a song and dance man, not a musician. Aside from advancing the art of music video by throwing tons of money and having some Ed Wood-level ideas, he was no different than Sammy Davis, Jr.
Come on, peeps.

On the topic of staying on topic [there is joy in repetition:)]: it's not from me that Orgers on this thread will hear admonitions about keeping it to the subject at hand, as I'm all for free, unrestrained and creative speech. So by all means, Michael Jackson, your latest vacation,... it's all fine by me!
(Having said this, it's good we have mods, because if it was just me, those 'themed' threads would go all over the place --> = 'chaos & disorder', you get it...

I agree. Kind of. Swap the names and fans in your comment and you'd be bang on. |

Sammy played multiple instruments in concert, was an actor and a world class impersonator. His versatility was such that you cant rate him as a song and dance man.
