Boozer talks about renting his crib 2 Prince

Boozer on rock star: Prince of a fellow

Musical icon rented Bulls forward's West Hollywood mansion and 2 have gotten to know each other

Prince

The Bulls' only trip to Minneapolis uncovered this nugget: Carlos Boozer once rented his West Hollywood mansion to none other than Prince, Minnesota's Purple Rain musical icon.

"My realtor was like, 'Yo, there's this guy who wants to rent your house. He saw it before you bought it,'" Boozer recalled of the 2004 transaction. "I was like, 'I'm not leasing my house. I've never done that.'

"The amount of money he was willing to pay made me reconsider. And that's how Prince rented my house out."

Multiple media outlets reported Prince paid $70,000 per month for the 10-bedroom, 11-bath home. The same reports said attorneys for Boozer filed suit against Prince/MPG Music for violating the eight--month lease because of "painting the exterior with purple striping, 'prince' symbol, and numbers 3121" — one of Prince's albums. The suit also cited a purple monogrammed carpet was installed in the master bedroom and plumbing "for water transfer for beauty salon chairs" was added.

"He made it purple," Boozer said. "He wanted to put his personal touch on it because he wanted to make it feel like home. I was kind of worried about that when I saw the house. But Prince was great. I had a conversation with him. He changed everything back the way it was before he moved out.

"He did some very specific things that were built for him and his lifestyle, which is very different than mine."

Boozer's attorneys eventually dismissed the suit and Boozer said he signed a disclosure agreement not to talk about specifics.

"He knows how to live," Boozer said. "I'll put it that way."

Boozer said he hooked up with Prince a couple of times last summer in New York.

"We had a good time at a lounge," Boozer said. "He's a great dude. He's very humble, very successful. He has a great spirit about him. He does a lot for charity. He'll sing at your birthday party if you want him to just because he's that kind of guy."

Boozer said he has seen "Purple Rain" and bought concert tickets for his parents to see the performer last year at Madison Square Garden.

"Great movie," he said. "Not a big fan of some of his concerts. He likes to do the butt-cheek thing, not really my thing. Some of his music is pretty hot, though."

Damn, this dude makes EVERYBODY sign disclosure agreements. If I were Carlos, I wouldn't have signed it! Why wouldn't I be able to talk about what was done to or with MY house??

Prince REALLY needs to get that stick outta his ass. It was cool and fun back in the day, but this whole "man of mystery" thing has been old for YEARS now.

And, Carlos should've kept that last part out of his mouth. "The butt-cheek thing?" That was 20 years ago...get over it!

The man is not a fan, all he knows from Prince is what is in history. He was 2 or 3 years old when Purple rain came out. Look up Prince on the internet and that "butt cheek thing" comes up. As an NBA star, Prince is probly more a fan of his. He is a multimillionair that made Prince paid rent. What does he care about stepping on toes?

Another article I read said that Prince settled by handing over a million dollar check for Booz to put the house back how he wanted....

Damn, Prince is rolling like that?

But, he hasn't had a hit in how long? j/k

Seriously, that's some cheddar....70G's per month....pay mega money to decorate it Prince-style (the tearing out walls to put in a beauty salon....lord have mercy lol )....and THEN give up a million to re-decorate it back....

Most of us would say that's some unnecessary shit....but, spend it if ya got it, i guess. biggrin

Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

This guy REALLY knows Prince. lol

What a stupid quote.

It´s interesting to see that a lawsuit does not necessarily equal bad blood between the two parties involved. Who would´ve thought that they had small talk and a pretty normal "relationship" after this whole incident. Lawsuits aren´t what they used to be. confused

‘‘He made it purple. He put his purple touch on it because he wanted it to feel like home. I was kind of worried about that when I saw the house.’’

Kind of worried? Former Bulls guard Jay Williams, Boozer’s close friend and former Duke teammate, said Boozer was enraged.w

‘‘He called me and said, ‘Dude, I rolled past my house three times. I had no idea it was my house,’ ’’ Williams said on “Waddle & Silvy” on ESPN Radio 1000.

In the lawsuit, Boozer claimed that Prince added purple stripes and the Prince symbol to the exterior of the house, installed black carpet in the downstairs guest room, put in plumbing and piping in the downstairs bedroom to feed water to beauty salon chairs and installed purple monogrammed carpet in the master bedroom. Prince paid $70,000 a month in rent, according to the lawsuit.

‘‘Booz was livid,’’ Williams said. ‘‘He was so [ticked] off, so angry. Booz was like, ‘I was getting ready to go over and beat this little man down.’ ’’

Prince has a right 2 do whatever he wants. Prince saw what he wanted & had 2 have it. Boozer I'm sure was not that stupid 2 think a rock star like Prince was gonna live in a plain house like that and not pimp it out.. He shouldn't have let Prince stay in it if he was that picky about the house.

He got a million dollar check out of it & a friendship . So Boozer actually benefited in the end.

SO U PICK A FINGER & GET OVER IT!!flipped off

Carlos Boozer Used To Be Prince's Landlord

Here's the craziest music-related story going around in the last day, and improbably, it features Bulls forward Carlos Boozer: Apparently, a few years ago, Boozer rented his Beverly Hills mansion to Prince, who swiftly changed a lot of stuff in the house. To the point where Boozer didn't recognize it. Here's what Boozer's friend Jay Williams said about it:

"Booz told me how he had this massive house ... blue fountain waves kind of came down streaming water that led to the front door and all this great stuff," Williams said on "The Waddle & Silvy Show" on ESPN 1000. "And I remember him calling me, 'Dude, you will never guess, I rode past my house like three times, I had no idea it was my house.'

"Supposedly, Prince changed the front gate to the Prince sign, he changed the master bedroom to a hair salon, he changed the streaming blue waters that led to the front door to purple water, he knocked out walls, he changed the molding on top of the ceiling. Booz was livid. So pissed off, so angry ... He put his Purple Rain stamp on it ... Booz was like, 'I was getting ready to go over there and beat this little man down.' And dude was just like 'Here, Boozer, here is a little check for about a million, it'll take care of everything, get it back the way you want it.' And Booz was like , 'This little man is cool as hell.'"

Classic. Prince just gave Boozer a million bucks to take the "Purple Rain stamp" off of it. Just the best. Boozer can't really talk about it, due to some agreement with Prince, but here's what he said to ESPN:

"We had a disclosure thing. We agreed not to speak about the details of our deal, so I don't want to cross that bridge," Boozer said, before adding with a smile, "He knows how to live. He lives a good life. I'll put it that way."

Boozer, who said he met with Prince before he moved into Boozer's place, had no problems with the adjustments.

"He put it back the way it was before he moved out," Boozer said. "He did some very specific things that were built for him and his lifestyle, which is very different from mine. Needless to say, I sold the house, made a great profit and moved to Miami."

Boozer admitted that he is a fan of some of Prince's work, but he may not be in attendance for a concert any time soon.

"I've listened to some of his music," Boozer said. "Not a big fan of some of his concerts ... [That's] not really my thing, but some of his music his pretty hot, though."

Oh man, this story is the funniest. Prince must have really wanted this house 2 give up all that chedder 4 it & keep it out of the news.

eye remember he did live it in 4 quite a while & had major hollywood parties in it. But this story also proves that Prince is not hurting 4 cash not in the least & will spend a pretty penny 2 keep himself happy & content. eye just wonder. What else did he not want told? It seems most of the details were already leaked....Maybe a purple orgy boom boom room with Tamar & The Twinz? prince

eye will ALWAYS think of prince like a "ACT OF GOD"! N another realm. eye mean of all people who might of been aliens or angels.if found out that prince wasn't of this earth, eye would not have been that surprised. R.I.P. prince

Is there some specific reason this is all coming back up now? This was news when 3121 was out. It was reported the owner of the house was upset that Prince made changes and Prince paid to restore the mansion back to it's original design. So why bring it up again now?

When eye go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all heart up in the house but when eye log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

this story sucked then and it sucked now cuz alot of people who pay way less than prince do will move out and leave a place a complete mess i wouldnt have paid him as much as prince did and wouldnt have paid for repairs prince could of put that house on the market and it would of sould 4 much more cuz it was his than if boozer does.

prince should make people sign agreements cuz everybody wanna run and tell everything now

Only Prince can rent a home for $150,000 a month, leave behind a security deposit -- and the landlord doesn't know who to give it to.

Prince

According to a lawsuit filed in June, when Prince moved out of the home he rented in Beverly Hills, he left behind a $300,000 security deposit. 3121 Rep Inc., the company that claimed to have brokered the lease for Prince, has sued the owners to get the money back.

But the owners say Prince made all the payments himself -- 3121 was just an intermediary -- so themoney should go straight to him.

Now the two sides are suing each other, with Prince caught in the middle -- 3121 wants the money they says is theirs, the owners just want their attorney's fees paid.

Meanwhile, Prince is probably sitting somewhere composing ballads, with no idea any of this is going on.
