Don't link to that stuff, people!
Good god - you'd think folks would know by now not to do that shit. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

I wouldn't know, but I know those different hand positions where he goes up and down and wiggle around on the neck of the guitar is something else. Not forgetting he has to sometimes change the sound with stepping on the floorboard. So complex
Makes me think of "Computer Blue" [Edited 1/31/11 10:26am] Yes, at 19, I finally saw the Revolution, a legendary band. And I talked to Wendy!!! In addition to seeing Prince, I have now lived life. Thank you Purple People!!

The last song on his first album "I'm Yours" is very conplex, lots of instruments seamlessly blended together and he was only 19!

Co-sign with "Crystal Ball". Real intense and complex musicmanship. Besides the backing vox and orchestration did he do it by himself?

"Dance On," is a song that's clever and funny, I really wonder how complex musicians think it is.
I love the peculiarity of this song. Can we get 2gether

Check out 'Just My Imagination' from Small Club. Wow. I always thought Miko was playing guitar with him, but it's all Prince. Blows my mind. That and 'Bambi' from the Nude Tour, Japan 1990. One of his best performances on guitar ever. I play that in my car and to this day, I can't help but play it as loud as possible.
Enjoy! "Great dancers are not great because of their technique, they are great because of their passion" -- Martha Graham

Strange but the most complex guitar solo in a Prince song is not even played by Prince Sexy MF guitar solo

Although LoveSexy (the song) wasn't exactly a blistering guitar song, it had a lot of shifts in gears, and all sorts of things taking place in it. He was all over the place on the song.
And half the Symbol album was like that too.
Even R&B ballads like "shhhhh" did some interesting things, and had guitar moments.
But for Rock oriented songs, I always thought Peach was fun. It has 3 guiltar solos in it, doesn't it?
Hey, it's time to jam! Nastyarse, dance, dance, dance!!!

Most of "Purple Rain" pushes the edge of the envelope; actually, bursts it wide open. How did he come up with the bridge in "Take Me With U"? And how did he change it 20 years later?
The chord progressions in "Let's Go Crazy", "The Beautiful Ones" and "Darling Nikki" are sublime. As are all the songs, actually.
Also, "The Ladder" is a great composition. So is "Condition of the Heart". And of course, the entire "Parade" album bespeaks years of learning, as Rolling Stone magazine put it.
