I haven't heard about that album, do you have some more info on that?

There's people on here that have bashed me for talking about it. It comes down to a question of belief - I (and others) believe that this album existed and at one stage or another Prince intended to release it but ultimately went in another direction. Other people don't believe that this was the case. Which is fine, that's their prerogative.

The word at the time (some of which WAS coming from people in or associated with Prince) was that he planned to release a funk album, including "Turn Me Loose", "Prince And The Band" and "Feel Better, Feel Good, Feel Wonderful". It was suggested that the backdrop that appeared behind Prince when he performed "Turn Me Loose" on Leno was the cover artwork.

That's about as much as we ever learned about it, as I recall.

Thanks a lot for the addition, I also thought F.U.N.K. would have been on it.

The idea sounds much better then the MPLSound/20TEN-studio-sounds we got sad

Have a look at 'The W2A: Euro Tour Song Survey' http://prince.org/msg/12/362417

Thanks for the info, Militant. Was "Turn Me Loose" just played live, or do any recordings of this track circulate?

The studio version was played on a radio station, it's out there smile

On the 2009 bootleg of 'La Cigale' in Paris, Prince played 'Turn Me Loose' in a mash up with 'Stand' from Sly & the Family Stone.

It's just awesome heart

Studio version is nice to smile

If it's anything like Midnight Vultures (best Prince album of the 90's IMO) I am looking forward too!

Yeah, fucking great album. Beck makes the music that it would be nice to hear Prince make.

Ewwww. I really cannot stand Beck and hope Prince would never do that sort of music. Beck is Zzzzz to me.

I hate it when Prince emulates people or himself.

I have this sinking feeling that 20Ten was probably meant to be a FUNK album. lol

Actually a FUNK and a filler album at the same time.

Some people consider Newpower Soul to be a funk album and it's generally considered one of Prince's lesser efforts. I don't really want a particular album (ok, maybe a heavy rock album) I just want him to give us the best possible songs that he can, regardless of genre.

I'm not a big Beck fan either. He's OK.

I agree, Prince shouldn't be emulating anyone.

Although I don't hate Beck, I never understood why he was considered to be more than just

a pop star who managed to turn a few hipster heads.

I find it interesting how strangely spaced out his albums are. Sometimes several in a year, sometimes nothing for a year (which never happenned before).

But when you take a long view of his post-Symbol releases, it still averages out to being just as prolific as always, doesn't it? confuse

A funk album is a good idea. If not, a blues cover album. Or a rock/hard rock album like TGE. Any of the three.

yes, how dare people create threads about what they'd like to see from their favourite artist on an unnofficial fan forum. The crazy unthinking bastards. And unless you can back up your random capitalised statements with evidence, all they are are, well random capitalised statements wink

The 2008 Funk album should be the bonus "new" album on Crystal Ball Vol. 2 (the project Prince should be working on), just like with The Truth. cool

All the tracks mentioned below were awesome, so why did he cancel this but (sort-of) release 20Ten?

These would have worked into two nice albums...

Act Of God

Sticky Like Glue

Feel Better Feel Good Feel Wonderful

Valentina

Old School Company

No More Candy 4 U

Dance 4 Me

Chelsea Rogers

Lavaux

Compassion

Disco Jellyfish

Future Baby Mama

Black Sweat

Lolita

Turn Me Loose

The Dance

Fury

Redhead Stepchild (sung by Prince)

Love

Get On The Boat

I think he could have just about worked out about two classic funk albums. Given them releases a year after eachother or so... We have just been getting alot of mixed bags, because of the so so tracks on the albums. Lotus Flow3r was pretty focused though in my opinion. Thought out and tracked right. It has a nice flow.
