Is Prince Led By His Muse?

The sounds of 3121 and Planet Earth had a certain cohesiveness and unity to them. The music behind LotusFlower left those behind starkly, as 2010 seemed to be a watered down M.Sound sequel.

Prince punched hard with 3121, and PE seemed to loose some gas.

Prince had the twins to impress with 3121 and PE, and old what's her name on the next two sets.

I am thinking that Prince gets a lot of his creative energy from his muses. I also think the twins turned him on much more than whats her name. (i really can't think of her name right now.)

Does Prince have a new muse? What can we hope for? Am I even close?

We are all so full of doody here

"Old whats her name" (you should really learn her name before you toss that around so frequently!) has been appearing on P's records since PE.

Shelby's vocals are what you hear on Chelsea Rodgers. Once Tamar was out after 3121, Shelby was in.

I thought the "old what's her name" she was referring to was someone else, and dropping her name here would pretty much doom the thread (thus forgetting it being a clever tactic).

That said, of all the albums mentioned, LotusFlow3r is my favourite, so, much as I agree that muses seem to have a huge impact on Prince's music, which ones are more 'effective' so to speak really comes down to personal taste.

As for whether or not he has a new muse, the only potential I can think of was in the Crimson and Clover video, so she's not particularly new from that perspective.

Oh. I didn't pick up on that. I'm still unsure as to who that is, though, considering Mani was around since 1998 and so I.... Oohhh nevermind, now I remember.

Of course he is led by his muses ... they come from many places. Lately however, to me, it seems that the muses don't amuse him as much. I don't hear the "spark" in the lyrics. The sadness of him thinking about the ONE from a while back that still haunts him was heard on Somewhere Here on Earth ... but she's still out there and will return to him if it is truly meant to be.

I've said more than once that Prince wasn't inspired by love on LF or 20Ten, thus we didn't get great love songs like usually. I'd say he's been uninspired/not in love since these last 2 albums. I definately think he's inspired by his current muse whoever it maybe at the moment to some extent.

I'm optimistic about the next album if these last couple months are evident of what might be to come (Prince is smiling, his shows are on fire, he's popping up everywhere). The signs are looking up! I can't wait for a new album and some more tour dates..

Prince is GORGEOUS. I'm inspired. GOD is GREAT. Is there anything else to say? lol

I'm of course looking forward to the next album too, although not sure if any new muse will have anything to do with it, given that Prince is often 2-3 (or more?) albums ahead, thus the next couple of albums (assuming he releases what he's got now) are already long finished - and were so when he met with the Peach & Black guys after the W2A press conference last year.

I was thinking Bria Valente but just couldn't think of her name at the time.
