Don't be mad because you aren't intelligent enough to come up with such a clever way to get Prince out of his settlement (which he may not should've even gotten). Prince is GORGEOUS. I'm inspired. GOD is GREAT. Is there anything else to say? lol

If you are unhappy with the result of your case, you may wish to appeal your case to a higher court. It will mean going through the entire process all over again. If your case was commenced in the District Court, it can be appealed to the Circuit Court. A case commenced in the Circuit Court may be appealed to the High Court. A High Court case may be appealed to the Supreme Court. You may choose to appeal the original judge's decision in its entirety, i.e., his/her decision on who was to blame and the damages awarded (if they were awarded), in which case the Appeal Court may
If you are happy with decision made by the original judge in relation to who was at fault but unhappy with the amount of damages he/she has awarded, you may appeal the amount of damages awarded only. Then the appeal court may either increase or decrease the amount of damages awarded by the original judge. [Edited 3/10/11 18:35pm] Prince is GORGEOUS. I'm inspired. GOD is GREAT. That's an appeal. He hasn't filled a motion for appeal nor has he paid the lawyers who represented him. You don't just ignore the situation. And this isn't the first time the fool just plum ignoring making payments. You gotta use sound reason when talking about stuff and that's why most people think your comments are a lil----off.
Cha know what I mean?

I agree! He shouldn't ignore it at all...this should be cleared up asap. And I'm well aware of the past issue, that's no secret. I simply offered a hypothetical solution to what he MAY do to clear it up. Its not uncommon in legal situations to drag crap out until you just can't anymore. I'm not sure why people do that. But people do sometimes drag their feet with filing appeals. Will Prince file one? IDK, neither does anyone else on this board.. Could there be more to this case than we know about? Yep.
The problem with folks making ignorant comments are that they are so quick to say something negative about Prince that anyone who doesn't is automatically slammed (not directed at you). I have never stated Prince is right for not paying, I just stated maybe he has a reason for not paying, and if its a good reason, then right on to him for taking a stand. If people used a little intelligence and actually took the time to read and comprehend instead of trying to be witty and insult someone, maybe they'd be better off. I don't really care what people think of my exercising my 1st amendment right, "I don't see myself through other people's eyes." I happen to think a few people on this board are a bit off too... Silly Girl, your Jedi mind tricks and parlor games will not work with me. How does your sister shuffeling papers in a Colorado court house qualify you as a legal expert? Tell you what, go ask your Jie Jie (that is Chinese pin yin for older sister) how to appeal a SETTLEMENT!!!! There is no judgement to appeal.
I did not say you were dumb, I asked if you were willfully ignorant. That means are you refusing to accept the facts because that would force you to change your view. Ignornace means not having the knowledge in a particular area. Your inability to understand there is a difference between a judgment and a settlement leads many on this thread to this same question.
The post is not ignorant, that is a logical impossibility. When I got my MBA (I will org mail my credentials) we did study International law. And in the decade I have lived in China (run my ISP), I have used it everyday. Just because someone states a different view than yours, and decides to back it up, does not mean that they should be dismissed with insults. I only stated what is in the public record. You took a w.a.g. at it. Guess which one is permissiable in court. (Ask Jie Jie)
I understand you are a Prince fan and want to defend him. Guess what...everybody on this board is a Prince fan. I have been one before you were born. The truth is what it is.
Take from this what you will. You can grow or you can pass it on, choice is yours.

I think he just meant 'hit the skids', that this would hit him hard financially - not that he hopes it kills him! I doubt vitriol is that vitriolic!

I can understand what you are saying and that you want to defend him. Also, it's true that we will never really know what Prince's personal position truly is, as long as he himself remains completely silent on this. However, I really do not agree with you.
With all due respect to your sister and her work experience, that does not make YOU a lawyer. Also, a paralegal is a lawyer's legal assistant and usually not a lawyer him/herself. I am sure tho', that as being one since 7 years, your sis knows a lot about the law too and has plenty of experience.
And, like you say yourself, she only told you that "this is what he "could" possibly do AND that it was the only thing she could think of that could *possibly* get him out of paying the settlement.
Further, next to that settlement, that he - so far - has NOT publicly disputed, nor in court, he was also convicted by a European court of law to pay up, when he failed to meet the deadline to pay the settled amount. And he did not appeal that decision.
To make matters worse, he then also got a European court order, which, apparently, has already led to attachments on Prince's properties in Portugal and France. And yes, such an order CAN be ruled valid in the USA also.
I agree with your sister, that claiming his attorneys done him wrong, is the only thing he could ever claim to TRY and get himself out of this mess.
However, I do not agree with you AT ALL that this defense would stand ANY chance in court. Worse, if I would be his lawyer in this case, I would actually fear being laughed out of court with such a defense.
And yes, I AM a lawyer, with 10 years of experience, international law including, and I go to court on a very regular basis.
With that in mind, know that I DO agree with you that we still do not really know what Prince really thinks about all this himself, but I do know how the law works and how courts work and I can tell you:
This case really looks shitty for him.
edit And know also, that I don't take any pleasure in saying that. I think this case is something to worry about and I hope to see Prince get out of it in good shape. -- [Edited 3/11/11 14:28pm]

Meanwhile, the bill is growing and growing.
As long as mr. Nelson doesn't pay up, mr. Desmond will claim interest and legal fees.
It won't be long before we are talking 4 million here.

I wouldn't pay Mr.Desmond a cent ..... what's he done to earn 4 million ...... nothing..... did he spend for million on the so-called show ...... no.... he shouldn't even get 2 million .... the legal rules apply to ireland only ....... Prince can and will and move from europe to the USA for years to come and not pay a dime......
Mr Desmond should just wait for the amount Prince offers him and take it ...... Mr Desmond is a chancer.... Eye Was Born & Raised On The Same Plantation In The United States Of The Red, White And Blue Eye Never Knew That Eye Was Different Til Dr. King Was On The Balcony

What I just can't understand about this case, is why - by the looks of it - Prince didn't take it seriously AT ALL, when he got sued over this shit in Dublin.
And that when the case got settled ("tell the cat to chill, we will work something out..."), but he didn't pay up in time, he - again APPARENTLY - didn't take any serious action, when he got a conviction from the Dublin's case judge, mr. Kelly, that was quickly followed up by a European court order and attachments to European properties.
And now a case about it in the USA too, PLUS the involved lawyers claiming he didn't pay them EITHER
He really should have taken this more seriously from the beginning.
Worrisome... - [Edited 3/11/11 14:23pm]

Oh lawd, some of yall are smoking crack. That's like saying you're not going to pay the rent because you don't think your lender has done anything for you. Prince must pay, and the price-tag keeps inflating. Do you really think Prince is playing North Carolina cause he likes that part of the country? That motherfucker's heels can't climb no damned smokey mountains! Prince is going to pay one way or the other. He has to. Smokey mountain climbing pumps indeed. You're a real fucker. Not exactly. They can't make you pay by having a judgement. A judgement is simply a legal acknowledgement of the debt. The debtor can have P's wages garnished (which may be how he is doing it, who knows, that would explain the random trips to tour), but they can't force him to pay. I really think garnished wages is the way to go at his stature, too. How else do you get the money from him since he won't pay? It's an impossible situation.
What a fuckin loon.
Edit: Also, you woul dneed to look up civil suit stuff in Ireland for this to be appropriate. [Edited 3/17/11 9:21am]
