[Edited 3/3/11 3:13am]

Everyone who comes to this site regularly cares about Prince - vitriol himself acknowledged this just the other day.

But, as anyone who's despised someone they loved well knows, caring isn't all sunshine and rainbows, at least not when emotions are involved.

That said, the fact that there is only a small percentage of members of this site who have ever met Prince personally, let alone had any meaningful relationship with him, tells me that those who are passionate in their bitterness towards him are most likely using him as a substitute punching bag for someone else (or more likely a composite of people) whom they have issues with, past and/or present.

It sort of works the other way too - those who are passionate in their praise and dedication to Prince use him as a representation of the perfect partner/friend/teacher/etc..., which they can do on one hand because they don't have any hard evidence to the contrary, but which leads to them needing to fiercely defend their perfect guy at all costs, save the fantasy bubble might burst, the same way as the bitter ones can't let him get away with whatever wrongs someone else did to them.

In a lame attempt to justify this increasingly OT post, this is going to affect every single bit of news that comes out about Prince - some want to believe that poor Princey was too busy to notice that he was involved in a substantial legal tangle that is now threatening his family home; others want to see him on the street, paying for his apparent crimes.

One way or the other, everyone on this site cares about Prince, and if you've read this far into this thread, you care about his legal dramas too, regardless of your take on it wink

Er...the word Care and Love is over used ..... Prince is a musician .... some like his music ...some like his image some like both ....at the end of the day ... we don't care for Prince, we care about his music or his image and what it means to us on a personal basis.... in terms of history....culture..etc.

We all have limits to which we allow Prince's music and image to effect us .... but in a straight up choice between people we know and love and Prince .....he'd lose every time!

He's a rich guy, so most don't care for his personal or vaild reasons for not paying his bills ! that a fact!

Prince does not care if we pay our Telephone Bill or Gas bill on time does he?

It depends on your intepretation; it reminds me of when people go to lengths to explain how much they don't care about the topic of a particular thread:

You read it. You even posted to it. To some degree, you care.

I agree that not everyone on this site loves Prince - but (minus perhaps those who I know are now tied to the org purely through the connections they've made with other fans, who mostly hang out in GD) everyone who visits this site - and especially those that post - do care about him, if only about his music, which is an extension of him anyway.

I see over 90 replies in this thread alone that says otherwise wink

Heck no, Prince doesn't seem to care if he pays his telephone bill or gas bill on time! razz

I'm not sure your reading the thread, Care is over used because a comment does not mean you Care it just means you have an opinion on a subject ....

So yes, people are talking about it because Prince is in theoy some sort of financial trouble which is a subject close to most people on the org and the world right now!

Does anyone Care that he's has a financial problem no .... most people are wondering why he's not paying or think they know why he's not paying ....no "Care" is given

Well that just plain ain't true. My old man's a lawyer. So was my late mother. Plenty of lawyers have long-term clientele agreements that don't necessarily allow them to AUTOMATICALLY represent them for every single case.

I'm saying that even if Prince had an agreement with these lawyers, and EVEN if he called em up and said "Deal with this shit for me", if there's no written evidence that Prince specifically asked them to represent him in this specific case - then he can dispute it. We know that Prince has not paid these lawyers either. Maybe there's a reason for that.

Is it likely? Perhaps not. Is it possible? Sure.

It's even possible that these lawyers were hired by somebody that no longer represents Prince. His current manager, Kiran Sharma, has not been working for him for that long, I don't think. So it's also possible that Prince stopped working with management who hired this lawyers, and the terms of his management agreement make anyone THEY hired not legally authorized to represent him anymore.

You're quick to shoot down these scenarios, but if you study Michael Jackson's numerous lawsuits, you'll find that this shit happened to MJ all the time. There's even evidence to suggest that the people running his estate now were NEVER actually re-hired by MJ after he was known to have fired them, and that the will stating that that's what he wanted was either void, or completely forged. It's no coincidence that some of these people claim to have been re-hired by MJ just before he died. As in, days before. With no evidence to support that. Some of the people that worked on the fake songs on the new album are also known to have business relationships with some of these people who claim that MJ re-hired them. It's the kind of thing that happens when you're dealing with millions of dollars. And if can happen to MJ, which it did, on NUMEROUS occasions...... it can certainly happen to Prince.

To be succint, there's almost DEFINITELY shit going on here that we don't know about. For all the bad business decisions Prince has made, he isn't stupid. If he didn't have at least one card left to play, he'd have paid by now. It's not like he doesn't have the money.

That isn't even what I said. confuse

The only lawyer, and I've known and worked with many... that ever worked for someone and didn't have a contract signed was Matlock!! lol.......

An attorney who does not have a potential client sign a contingency agreement is asking for trouble "UNLESS" it is an obvious case like getting hit from behind in an automobile accident. As far as Prince is concerned, where MILLIONS of dollars are concerned, you can bet your butt that he signed.

There is probably at best a tiny bit of truth in these stories, you are all speculating on media crap written by gossipy sources.

We dont know AND never will know the exact nature of these deals.

Yeah Prince could be being a massive shit over this equally he might have good reason to not be paying, we will never know.

The Irish concert from what I read never had a contract and it was only because some judge decided that a couple of emails amounted to a contract that he got sued, IF you are to belive all the Dublin concert press Prince was not out of order and was forced into a corner, hence perhaps a reason why he could be delaying payment. Its not like he cant afford it, I'm sure he's far too busy making music, doing gigs and shagging fit women to give a rats ass about any of it.

and look at the headline "Prince could loose home" bollocks!

He will pay it off as usual, but it is starting to get tiring seeing that he doesnt pay his bills until the last minute. Doesnt affect the funk though. I really wish he would actually release some concerts or old jams that us fans love that he could make great cash on but..doesnt. I still do not get that to this day.

I literally have never, not once, read about a star with as much financial problems as Prince. And by problems, I mean that he refuses to pay his bills and is constantly getting press for it.

If I do recall, the man many refer to as the King Of Pop was having the same problems.

I blame it on the fact that he does not have an accountant (which he should have) and most likely him 'donating' to his cult is causing him financial hardship. I've seen many of ppl lose their lives due to 'giving their money to God'. Its an addiction.

And what entitles you to say so?

I don't know Prince personally. I only read all the quality researches written on him and I can assure he's the kind of person who I couldn't be friends with, let alone 'love'.

I just happened to like his musical output since he definitely lost it circa 2004. But I don't 'love' him. Never did and never will. I have no reason to.

Finally, the reason why I keep on coming back to this site (which is NONE of your business, btw) is precisely because I have fun looking at all the craziness on here. It's other places I use for 'serious' Prince stuff.

Again.....personal business = none of our business! Oh My Gosh....how people love unwanted drama! Half of us are just as irresponsible, we are just fortunate not to have it thrown all over the media.

Ok, that makes perfect sense. Half of us on the org almost never pay our bills. Then you must believe that 50% on here posting are not at home. They are either using the computer at the public library, or bothering their neighbor. That is about the funniest thing I have ever read on here. Prince spent millions on professional music videos that have never been released. He is taken to court by real businesses who never got paid.

This has nothing to do with the crazy lawsuits like the guy who said Prince's music caused him to fall off his toilet.

For normal people, not paying a chewing gum bill puts you in small trouble. Not paying a big bill ruins your credit, gets you evicted, and gets your car taken away.

A celebrity can not pay their bills, break the law, and even murder someone and get away with it. If I steal a car, I might never recover from the ill effects.

This has to do with a guy who doesn't pay his bills. I have talked to many former employees who gush about how much they love Prince, and how much they loved working with him, and how much he knows about music. Not a single one has had a nice thing to say about how he deals with money. For example, the few people I know from other artists(like Bon Jovi...lesser talent, but better boss) never had a bad thing to say about their paychecks.

As much as I love Prince, I think he needs to listen to his song "Rich Friends" and look in the mirror.

Prince was developing a reputation for not paying his creditors on time back in the 90s, long before he became a Witness. Should God be blamed for personal financial irresponsibility?

No orger is going to get any part of a judgement.

Might I suggest grabbing a dictionary before you start in on the ignorance on this board. http://i.word.com/idictionary/apologist Main Entry: apol·o·gist Pronunciation: \ə-ˈpä-lə-jist\ Function: noun Date: 1640 : one who speaks or writes in defense of someone or something There are some fools on the org who believe Prince can do no wrong. No matter how wrong he done did. Methinks you took the word a little too literal.

Err..... How has Prince done wrong ? the problem is a contract between two parties .....one of the parties is a Prince aid.....not Prince in person....i.e. his aid could / may have made the mistake...

Stop calling people fools ....and get up to speed on the case!lol

cop PRINCE APOLOGIST CREW ALERT!!! :cop:

This is just the latest case of many wherein Prince has shown his ass. I'm not gonna even go into the whole "Prince's aid" thing because after thirty plus years in the biz, he should be able to find an "aid" who knows how to pay a tab. Again. Besides, where in the article does it state this irresponsible "aid" was responsible?

That said, get to speed up on deez nutz! Fool.
