And what entitles you to say so?

I don't know Prince personally. I only read all the quality researches written on him and I can assure he's the kind of person who I couldn't be friends with, let alone 'love'.

I just happened to like his musical output since he definitely lost it circa 2004. But I don't 'love' him. Never did and never will. I have no reason to.

Finally, the reason why I keep on coming back to this site (which is NONE of your business, btw) is precisely because I have fun looking at all the craziness on here. It's other places I use for 'serious' Prince stuff.

What entitles me to say so is the fact that this is a open forum.

And it is so obvious that you are crazy abiout Prince.

You sound off like a jealous lover, what are you hiding?

He should pay his damned bills and clear this one!

Right? Why the fuck are so many people here making excuses for the fact he didn't pay his bill? Why the fuck should the promoter be sat with that bill? THEY didn't cancel the event, HE did. It was HIS responsibility to play the show - HE didn't even give a damn reason for cancelling.

"Prince has a plan to work a loophole" blah fucking blah. No wonder the world is so fucked up.

Its not his fault IF he didn't settle on the date and sign a contract with that date. I believe its been said that they were in contact via emails, which was probably the evidence the promoters used to "prove" Prince had agreed. Just because this judge found him liable, doesn't mean he is... I'm not sure a judge here in the US would have made the same decision based on a few emails. There is no guarantee that there was indeed a contract. And Prince wasn't there in court himself to agree on the terms, so he could have a reason to appeal or reject the decision. I wish we had the actual docket from the courts to get more info.

Prince is GORGEOUS. I'm inspired. GOD is GREAT. Is there anything else to say? lol

Yes it is, if you don't have basic common sense when it comes to monies and all the lawsuits,Chaka Mad and camel's ordered at midnight cause you live in Prince-world stories have kinda proven that Prince doesn't have a clue when it comes to finances.

Just because he SAYS he is giving away a million to charity, doesn't mean he will ever write the check. Why donate to the American Ballet? Do they really need money or was it just to impress a certain ballerina?

And, does anyone know what the infamous gold guitar sold for? They made a big deal out of it being played, sold & the proceeds going to charity. But the actual auction took place at an aftershow.

I'm no attorney. I'm not related to any attorneys. A friend is an attorney, but we talk bootlegs more than legalities when it comes to Prince.

Non-disclosure agreements are definitely contracts. Does anyone who thinks Prince doesn't use contracts think that he doesn't make everyone who works for him sign one?

Does anyone really think that Prince had no contract with MSG to play the recent dates there? What about Oracle Arena, or Ticketmaster for that matter? Would these businesses work with him based on a verbal agreement?

As someone else brought up here, look back at Prince's former band members. Andre Cymone, Wendy and Lisa, Brownmark, Eric Leeds, Levi Seacer Jr, Rosie Gaines...is it their faults that they had financial disputes with Prince?

Is it the the fault of all the people who signed up for the LotusFlow3r site that didn't deliver what was promised for the $77?

I'm bringing this all up because this is a site we all come to because we all share a strong interest in Prince. Personally, I'm interested in both his music and how he lives his life. I've read enough, and heard some things from people connected to him that reaffirm over and over again that Prince's financial issues have nothing to do with irresponsibility but more likely greed or ego.

This is part of what makes him who he is. I find it a fascinating flaw.Prince has proven to be both an innovative and brilliant businessman and also a possibly corrupt or ignorant businessman. I actually think he's all of these at once. In some ways it's kind of like his former seeming contradiction with being hyper spiritual and sexual all at once. That stuff is fascinating to me.

I have no idea of what contracts or agreements were used in the Croake gig. People seem to be focusing on that and not his business behavior with the perfume partnership, paying his back owed taxes, or his attorneys.

Oh wait, that's right...some of you believe that he shouldn't even pay his attorneys because they falsely represented him.

Interesting.

Ok, not interesting, kind of scary.

Try this experiment: Substitute Celine Dion for Prince in these current scenarios. Imagine if many of the people that worked with her from the beginning of her career made claims that she didn't pay them properly and this was a pattern. Would you defend her because she "didn't believe in contracts?". Would you defend her not paying her attorneys? How about not paying court awarded judgements.

I think the way trial court system works is once a verdict has been settled on, you can appeal if you can show evidence to prove to the contrary. Am I wrong?

P.S. Please someone call me a hater. That would give me (and anyone who knows me) a good laugh.

Actually, they delivered EVERYTHING that was promised. What they didn't deliver, was all the stuff that was pure speculation from day one. If you read those original articles, Scott was saying "we could do this", "we could do that", "there's potential to..." etc.

I for one was perfectly happy with the site and have no regrets of spending the money.

According to the latest press release, the site goes fully live on March 24 as a subscription-based portal, offering fans access to the new music, as well as unleashing a torrent of extremely rare concert footage from his entire career. Ranging from early shows to his already-mythologized appearance at Coachella 2008, Purple People who ante up the annual $77 fee can download all three of the new albums and all of the requisite goodies that come with them (lyrics, photos, etc).

LotusFlow3r.com is an entire interactive galaxy, conceived by Prince and created by Scott Addison Clay and Anthony Malzone, that takes the Prince fans into three distinctly different worlds emanating the feel of the three new albums in a high-end 3-D style design. Currently, the beta version of the site hosts new tracks “Colonized Mind” from the new LOtUSFLOW3r album, “DiscoJellyfish” from the new MPLSoUND album and “Another Boy” from Elixer with Bria. In addition, the site is slated to release a new music video from each of the three albums on the launch date including “Crimson and Clover” from LOtUSFLOW3r, “Chocolate Box” from MPLSoUND and “Everytime” from Elixer. Prince also plans to give his fans access to tickets to live shows, concert footage from past performances, exclusive imagery from his past albums and other exclusive photos, exclusive information about any private or secret shows, as well as exclusive content that will only be available in the first week of the site launch and may never become available again. Fans who join the site early will also receive a boutique-quality “Founding Member” t-shirt that displays the central image from the galaxy. Over time, Prince will continue to give fans more access to high-end never released photos and video content and much more.

Pretty damn hilarious, that you quote The Musictionary, a music blog run by a good friend of mine, ORGER Steven Anthony. That information didn't come directly from Prince or his people. It's a generalized write up of all the information available INCLUDING the original SPECULATIVE articles that quoted Scott Addison Clay.

As for the first paragraph you posted, EVERYTHING you mentioned there WAS on the site. New music, concert footage including Coachella, lyrics and photos from the new album.

Even the second article, everything mentioned there happened too, except for last sentence which was never stated officially.

So it's not bullshit, I was correct, and you were not.

So why don't you ask your good friend why he thought there would be so much more on the site? Did he just make it up or was he LED TO BELIEVE IT based on what Prince and his website developer, Scott Addison Clay, were putting out there? Obviously Clay was speaking based on what Prince directed him to say--Prince doesn't tolerate people going off-script (just ask Dr. Funkenberry).

And Prince can read. He was WELL AWARE of all the things people were saying were going to be on the site. He had plenty of opportunity to correct the misinformation if he never planned to do more with that website. The fact that he never did in any of the interviews he did for the website shows what a liar he is.

So, yes, what you said was entirely bullshit.

I feel like I'm repeating myself, but regardless of what anyone was "led to believe", or what Prince may have directed people to say, that stuff was STILL ALL SPECULATIVE. It was NEVER promised. Like I said - look at the original quotes of what was said. It was all ideas for things that could or might be possible or that they MIGHT do. They never said, we're definitely gonna do this, we're definitely gonna do that. Not once.

And SMART people spend money for the product that EXISTS. Not the product that may or may not appear at some random time in the future. That's not smart. Everybody knew what WAS on the site. It was all listed here immediately. That's what people were spending the money on, and they got what they were told was gonna be there from day one. AND MORE, if you include the rehearsal MP3's etc.

There was no misinformation to correct. There was nothing that anyone said was there, that wasn't. There were vaguely worded sentences about things they might do in the future.

People are perfectly entitled to have an opinion on whether they felt the overall content was worth or not. Never said otherwise.

So, no, it was not bullshit. Use some logic.

ugh, i still hate to think about that website. it was such a huge let down. i remember looking

forward so badly to that 'exclusive imagery from his past albums'. iirc at one point they did

actually mention artwork outtakes etc.

sigh

they probably did have big plans and perhaps even prince himself envisioned it would be a

great place to share much, much more than what we got (outtakes included).

but when only a handfull of people signed up, due to either the cost, the let downs of all his

previous web ventures, or the simple fact that no ordinary person who was interested and

wanted to have a look could even enter the site without that rediculous riddle, prince must

have lost interest again.

partly, i can understand that. if you'd imagined more than half a million members or so, it

must be a let down if you end up with 10,000 (or less).

but to then just let it all die and not add extra content (while at the same time offering new

music to the montreux website and other places) didn't help boost membership.

instead of taking it out on the people who did sign up, they could have kept up promotion

and added more and more good stuff to the site. unreleased albums, live shows, webcasts,

extensive essays on albums etc etc.

but when the site turned into a barren desert and people started complaining, prince did

what prince does best, be disgruntled and pull the plug on the whole thing.

it's funny that he still hasn't learned and just keeps on dropping hints about new stuff or

shit like that 'extraloveable' new version etc. why not just set up shop somewhere and

surprise people with something that is actually THERE and READY. gee, that might work.

"surrender ur expectations". but not until i build them up so high that the only logical

outcome for you will be disappointment. so that i, and my small elite core of fams can

turn around and say "you don't deserve it anyway".

thank god not all artists release music in this fashion or i'd never listen to a single song

again.

and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

Why do you even care? what relevancy does this have to you or your life? Are you at all involved with Prince, ABT, Misty and/or did you bid on the guitar?

And why are you typing in all bold? lol

xABT

[Edited 3/5/11 8:45am]

Yes I am involved with Prince, I care because I'm nosy, and I typed in bold cuz its easier to read. Sorry if that was the wrong way to type.

I appreciate your honesty; are you generous? Perhaps you can tell us how you're involved with Prince and provide some legitimacy to your statements? Just asking....lol

And typing in bold is not "wrong" most often its used to set certain sentences apart from paragraphs and/or quoting. No need to apologize, I was kind of kidding* boxed

bored2 It sounds like a fine time to start visiting some OTHER places in the USA for a show or twelve. All this suing costs money and he can't afford to cancel another thing at this rate. But then again, he seems to pay what he owes....I guess. Wild that he's getting sued left and right though. Is this karma for him suing people and sweeping his vids off those video sites? Who knows. Interesting. Good luck Princey.

As you read he doesn't pay certain things.

And yes, at the time of teh first news about the European 20ten shows I thought there was a correlation with the lost Irish court case.

But as he hasn't paid that one yet, not even in part, I guess any correlation is just random for now.

Wild that he's getting sued left and right though. Is this karma for him suing people and sweeping his vids off those video sites? Who knows. Interesting. Good luck Princey.

The karma idea is interesting.

If so, I would hope he understands it as such...

That makes me wonder - has he paid his bill over at WebSherriff? If not, maybe they'll retaliate and post a whole bunch of sweet bootleg videos online! lol

I ask again, what more is there then?

The point is that we don't know right now.

But like Bob said, HQ reported the show wouldn't happen from DAY ONE.

I think the promoters jumped the gun and started selling tickets without fully having confirmed all the terms with Prince. So if he can prove that, he's all good.

He had the opportunity to prove that in the Irish court, but he didn't and instead settled to pay 3 million.

This was all over the news and the org was talking about it for months.

Hard nut to crack that Prince was totally oblivious about it.

Hell, didn't he say himself "tell the cat to chill, we will work something out".

Well they did militant, but Prince didn't follow up on it.

There was another lawyer, Ed McPherson, who sued him too for not paying his bills. About 6 months or a year ago.
