Sly Stone says WTF.

The thing is, people who whine about Larry Graham don't even know the music of Graham Central Station.

It's unfortunate that he plays the same Sly covers, so they don't get a chance to hear how incredibly funky he is! music

Not a Larry song and not crappy at all.

This is probably true as illustrated by thedance's post.

I have the GCS back catalog on CD, and honestly, I can take it or leave it - I don't think the dude was putting out anything special. I respect his playing etc, but his material is pretty goofy.

^^ right. Larry is a fantastic bass player.

but:

Do you, (Rhyging), really enjoy hearing Prince redoing those old crappy standards at aftershows.... question

Everyday People, feeling ill

Thank You (Falletinme Be Mice Elf Agin). ill

Release Yourself. feeling ill

The Christ, formerly The Cross, with Prince, Larry, Chaka... beats them all in crappyness imo. barf

I just can't stand Prince ruin his aftershows with the music from Sly/ GCS.

"Rock This Joint" the boot from 1998, is an example of an aftershow that gets ruined,

So annoying with those old standard songs. IMO. wink

(A bit off topic)

Prince makes me feel so many things...

sometimes I feel inspired

sometimes I feel happy just rocking out to his music

sometimes I listen to the sadder songs and I feel like he understands me

Only true artists can make you feel that way.

First concert: January 18, 2011 & then February 7, 2011 at MSG. Best concerts of my life.

Old crappy standards? You definitely need some funk history private lessons.

If you don't like 'em that's ok to me, but to call 'em crappy is just too much.

Musically?...I'll probably say something corny here, so I won't. boxed I'll just say his work is my favorite stuff to listen to, and I'll leave it at that.

Music aside - fascination. He just fascinates the shit outta me.

Some might say they compliment those old crappy Prince standards. I for one certainly like Sly & The Family Stone as much as Prince. I just hate him not doing Sly's songs justice when he plays them.

Happy. And his live shows make me swoon.

And when he talks about politics and social issues he often makes me feel very, very sane.

He puts me on a high, whenever I listen to him, I am elated. I think Lovesexy should be prescribed as medicine for people with clinical depression. The vibes off that record could lift anyone out of a deep blue funk.

Prince is definately a drug, which is why Prince is such an addiction to everyone on the org, even when they try to deny it. The first step to curing an addiction is to admit you have a problem. lol Perhaps we need Prince-Anonymous?!?!?

He makes me feel not so great whenever I fall for his business schemes or when he releases songs that I can´t listen to in my kitchen because I have to turn the volume down in fear of my neighbors hearing what kind of cringeinducing music I´m listening to (like Wedding Feast,The One U Want 2 C, Mr.Goodnight) but, all in all , the good outweighs the bad by far.

Prince is among the handful of people who are guaranteed to make me feel good, no matter how bad I feel sometimes. A Prince concert gives me this great feeling of joy and happiness for a very long time, and I´m glad that he´s still around and doing his thing.

That he is not really living up to some of our expectations and not really making full use of his true potential is another story but all in all, I´d say he´s the one artist or entertainer that really knows how to make people feel good, and that is a rare talent, IMO.
