Do u see them as 2 separate albums or really just a double album

I never listen to Mpls, but Lotus gets a spin every so often, so yes, i see lotus as a stand alone album, despite it being in that stupid card sleeve with the other two.

Here,

Dance 4 Me,

Ol' Skool Company

I heart those songs.

I see the LF/ MPLS albums as 2 (very) different albums.

I still have them on the same iTunes playlist.

I have listened Lotusflow3r only one time. MPLSound i listen often. For me, MPLS is better, and i see them as 2 seperate albums.

i love:

(There'll Never B) Another Like Me,

Chocolate Box,

Dance 4 Me,

and live Ol Skool Company from per4mance at Jay Leno Show.

Lotusflower is clearly a standalone concept album, MplSound is a collection of tracks that didn’t fit into anything else.

Seperate albums.

I really like them both.

Love them both...MPLSound has the best song (Dance 4 Me), but I think that Lotus has the better songs.

Great stuff.

Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

I see them as two separate albums. LOtUSFLOW3R is a great album but MPLSoUND is pretty weak apart from a few decent tracks.

separate. lotusflower is an album that i've been playing more than any album since TRC

and when i'm not listening to the entire disc start to finish, i'm always putting on songs

from it and enjoying them.

that is something that hasn't happened to me in a long long time, going back to a new

prince album so many times and getting such satisfaction out of it and just continuing

to think "jeez, i love this one"

now, mplsound on the other hand lol that's just a bad disc. there are a few nice songs

on it but as an album it doesn't work at all imo. i could see how the good songs needed

their own 'home' since the sound and style wouldn't have fit on the lotusflower project.

but damn prince, he could have done better than that.

but it's interesting none the less, just to realise that he releases these two albums in one

package and they are so incredibly different. one is extremely well executed and sounds

like a true album, with a thought behind it and a cohesiveness that has been rare in his

albums past trc. and the other is just a grab bag of songs that have a linn beat, that falls

flat on it's face when you hit that long boring patch of so so ballads and never recovers

after that. if it weren't for "dance 4 me" and "old skool company" i'd never listen to it.

It would have been good to have the Lotus album without the Bria disc and have MPLS as say a 5 or 6 track e.p.

if he was still releasing singles he could have pulled 3 singles off the lotusflower album

and backed each one up with 3 tracks from mplsound, which would then just be new,

non album tracks, which would have pushed those singles really hard.

MPLSound is more cohesive and if released as a standalone album would have been more popular that 20TEN imo.

Lotusfow3r is great too, my only concern is that tracklist wise, it doesn't seem to flow very well., sounds more like a collection of random tracks.

77 Beverly Park doesnt fit where it was put, (it was originally intended for MPLSound but was changed at the last minute), it would have flowed much better to go from Love Like Jazz straight to Wall of Berlin

Bria's album is OK - the standout track for me is Elixer which is his best sensual song for years.

All in all I quite liked them all as a 3CD set but I think as a result its under-rated as a lot of good tracks got overlooked by fans.

yeah, i've read that too, but "77 beverly park" would not have fit on Mplsound at all imo.

it's completely different from all of those tracks. most notably because it's all instruments

and almost no computer sounds.

as it is, it does fit in better on lotusflower. personally, i think it fits great where it is now.

but since i read that it was intended for mplsound, i can't help thinking that there might

have been another song by the same name, perhaps a more electronic instrumental,

which got scrapped off mplsound.

then he simply liked the name too much to let it go to waste an dubbed another song,

the one we now know as such, 77 beverly park.

Its a pretty little song but really I agree it wouldn't have fitted in MPLSound either..it would have fit better on 3121, assuming he had recorded it by that time.

ooh, yes, i see where you're coming from. it shares that same southern vibe that "te amo" and

"get on the boat" have. would have been nice to have it somewhere in the middle of 3121.

hmmm
