^What?

So you don't care about Per Nilsen's surveys on uncirculating songs?

Guy, I'm giving you some info. If you don't care for it, so be it.

I, for one, have a crazy interest in gathering as much info as I can on lots of tracks. Even if I haven't heard them and probably never will.

Maybe if you did some work instead of bitching you might have some more stuff.

Oh I wasn't bitching so to speak (I was a little drunk writing that). I do own The Vault and all of the circulating tracks. I guess what I meant to say is that I am fustrated talking about this song for so many years and not hearing what it is "supposed" to sound like. Approaching 30 and reading about this track since I was 15 I guess I'm just tired and worn from reading about something we never heard. So I apologize if I sound cranky.

I mean several bars of horns, with different arrangements to the ones along the sung part and with a brief but astounding trumpet solo.

And there's no such thing as a '4:17 version'.

There are not 2 versions of the song. The '4:17' version is just the song going little farther than the bridge but slowed down to make it last more.

I'm sensing a little frustration from the people who may not have heard the proper full length version of this track, and that's fine, and a little understandable.

I see your point. It's much worse than threads about two bit reality stars being kicked off stage by Prince, and all the other mindless bile that pollutes this forum.

Just seems like a whole load of confusion over nothing.

All i know is i have the 4:18 version, and its a pretty cool funky track.

Confusion over nothing? How so?

Just because you didn't know the full track has little to do with what you have?

I'm sorry. Next time I'll keep the info for myself so that you keep on living your Alice-in-Wonderland thing.

You're perfectly right, just had a quick listen and there's an entire horns part between 5:15 and 5:40, totally different from the bad pitched short version.

Busy doin' something close to nothing

Apart from that, the slowed down snippet starts with 4 bars of music before the vocal melody starts.

On the complete version there are 8 bars before the vocals.

The snippet reaches the bridge at 3:23 and fades out less than a minute after that.

The complete version goes on for like 2:22 minutes. And it doesn't fade out, there's a real ending with a horn stab.

I don't know how long would the 4:17 'version' be if the pitch were the correct one, but if we put on the table 4 missing instrumental bars at the beginning, the 'extra' 2:22 minutes and the pitch difference I'm sure a good chunk of the song is missing.

Anything can be a thread... according to some. Others decide if it is a good thread, according to "their" opinion. With that being said, some people believe that threads that they are interested in are of more importance than others.... nevermind, I've had too much coffee. razz

No, it's that vitriol is describing versions without knowing what versions are actually out there. The 4:17 version, whatever is affecting it idk, but it has horns at the end. Vitriol stated that it was the REAL, long version that had horns.

IDC one way or the other cuz 1) Fuchsia is misspelled in the title of the thread so I can't take it seriously and 2) It's a fucking terrible song, lol.

^I'm sure you overlooked responses #48 & 49.

I know PERFECTLY what's out there, and I'll repeat there's NO such thing as a 4:17 version.

The only thing that's out there is a portion of the full track slowed down to make it seem longer (thus closer to the original 6:36 length).

Of course, the whole thing has horn embelishments, but the '4:17 version' lacks a full part with no vocals, different horn riffs and a trumpet solo.

There's a such thing as a 4:17 version. I am aware that it is simply a tweaked snippet or whathaveyou. That being said, it is still a "version" in the possession of collectors. Semantics, bro.

And yes, it has horns in it. It might not have the horns you are talking about, but it has horns. Which was my original comment.

Well...I guess it is nice to know what extra it has on the song; I just wish the rest of us had something more to go on because we can only imagine so much. Not asking; just saying.

I really wish Love & Sexy by Sheila E. gets released..that song description in The Vault sounds very enlightening.
