taxes are anti-constitutional/immoral anyways. it's better he gave to organizations which really need it.

Is there any information on organizations world wide that Prince donates to? Since he spends so much time away from the United States. Just a quick question, don't feel like looking it up, so if you know, just reply... if not, no smart answers, please smile

I don't know about any worldwide organizations he's contributed to, I'm sure some longtime fans here may have that type of information if any. He's pretty low-keyed on these matters it seems. I know he had the Love 4 One Another Charity during the 90s. Also, according to an article I posted in reply #70 on this thread, he's made a donation of "$90,000+" to Fisk University, a historically Black College, that was on the "brink of bankruptcy," back in the 90s and also donated to the Marva Colllins School in Chicago. I've heard, not sure if it's true, that he also helped to fund Spike Lee's "Malcolm X" movie.

You don't see the difference between taxes and whatever gifts?
Taxes should make the country run, i.e. that's what we think is necessary in a normal democracy.
Gifts are for what the individual thinks is worth running.

"no taxation without representation". i'll also say to check for sherry jackson; she explains why the tax system is immoral, better than i ever could.

how many of us ask for our taxes to go towards murdering innocent people overseas, and even in this country? our taxes pay for the police to attack us pretty much every day. our taxes go towards protecting the top one percent of earners in this nation. we get overcharged so they don't have to pay as much. it's immoral.

Hey Banks! wave I feel like I helped out too and that's what made these shows so special. It was going to a very worthwhile cause. Our children need all the help they can get and I'm so glad that not only did Prince see this but that the money from the shows will go and help the children further their education. It's such a wonderful thing.

positive and great news for the various communities. THIS is the P i love, hope that he doesn't go too much down the MJ route and use the publicity to brag to world about how great he is. Just the odd bit of info here amd there has a touch more class and sincerity about it.

That's the thing, most people don't know the donations he's made to various charities, because he doesn't seem to brag about it but more or less keep it low-keyed. Honestly, the way the education system is going in NYC right now, many teachers are in the process of losing their jobs, and many of our public schools are on the verge of closing. We have overcrowded classrooms, many subpar teachers, and many teachers end up playing the role of parent/teacher. Not to mention lack of updated materials/equipment for many students to be able to compete with those students who are in a better educational system.

You have people like Geoffrey Canada (HCZ) and Dr. Steve Perry (Principal of

Capital Prep in Connecticut), both of whom invest their time and energy and give hope to many of these kids from certain communities, where some of the parents of these students may feel there is no hope for a better education for their children, because their kids may not be able to attend or afford schools that can provide a better education. Dr. Steve Perry will also put many of these parents in check, as far as informing them about taking responsibility as parents.

Isn't this thread about Prince donating funds to specific organizations and not about how much taxes he pays? You guys are going off topic. It really would be nice for once to not take a thread regarding something positive that Prince did, like contributing funds to 3 organizations to support educaton and the arts, and turn it into something negative.

It is possible that some of it came from the string of concerts he performed in the NY/NJ area. He did mention during the Press conference in October 2010, that he wouild put the gold guitar up for auction at the end of the NY/NJ concert series, in which he did, and that the guitar would be auctioned off to benefit the HCZ project. I don't think the focus should be on wondering whether the donations came from the concert series or money he had before these series, the point is, he was generous enough to have interest and "care" about giving to these organizations.

No the focus shouldn't be on where it came from. But the two orgers made reference like it came from there pockets. I know Prince mentioned the auctioning off of the guitar. But I didn't remember him saying the proceeds from his earnings from the NY shows were going to the HCZ project.. It makes it look like he didn't have the funds b4 hand...

lol (Highlighted part) No it doesn't. Kool, I think you're reading waaaaay too much into the comments. The orgers who stated that basically wondered if any of the donations came from sales of concert tix they purchased to attend those concerts, that's all, which if it did, it makes them feel part of that contribution to those organizations. Nothing wrong with that. Besides how does their wondering about that make it look like Prince didn't have the funds beforehand to contribute to those organizations, especially when none of us know how much money Prince has in his personal bank account anyway nor is that any of our business? Lawd..lol

Whoa, you need to hold your horses there dude. My understanding of the situation is that proceeds from the concerts were going to go to the schools and other areas as mentioned in the thread. I would like to think that by buying a ticket, I helped Prince help the Harlem Empowerment Zone and the other schools. I'm sure Prince has his own money to help them but for me, it makes having gone to the shows even more worthwhile. Whatever the case, I'm thankful that these schools are getting the money they need, no matter where it comes from. We all should be happy for that.

Well I like 2 b specific about everything. When i attended a benefit show for Tavis Smiley organization a couple of years ago that Prince performed at & only Prince. It was told to us b4 we purchased the tickets and on his website that the proceeds were going to the Tavis Smiley foundation. I think it has to be made specific that the funds are going directly to that benefit. So I & everyone that attended felt like we were totally donating to that benefit.

Tavis Smiley sent a thank you letter to folks who attended the 10th anniversary celebrations of his State of the Black Union, as well as the Gospel Brunch and Prince concert in Los Angeles held to benefit the Tavis Smiley Foundation.

While informing supporters that the recent fund-raising efforts have brought in almost $225,000 to fund the development of young leaders, Smiley made a point to single out Prince for donating proceeds from his Feb. 28 show at The Conga Room to the cause.

lol Kool, that's all chilli and cheese, but my point is that there was nothing wrong with the orgers who mentioned/wondered if maybe their ticket purchase to the concert series, may have been part of the donations to those organizations, and that if it was, they said it made them feel good knowing that. They never said it actually was, and they never implied that Prince had no money of his own, to give to either organization before the concert series. Anyway, the fact that he was generous enough to give donations to all 3 organizations (when he didn't have to) is a good thing.

No, it isn't anymore
Someone -not me- dragged in that P paid his taxes.
He didn't. He paid them somewhat later.
Next is him donating $1M.
Then P asks $1.5M for another charity appearance/show....

This is a bit more perspective to this charity situation.

He didn't reduce his price!
