Conga Room concert features Prince most virtuoso guitar playing

I was listening to a Conga Room recording today and Prince really shined on guitar.

Maybe he was inspired by Michael and Sonny because

it features amazing guitar playing

very inspired,modal,precise with perfect timing

and what Prince played on songs like Spanish Castle Magic,Shock you(elvis) i'M yours is simply amazing

I miss the NPG Power Trio. I wish he´d work much more often with Michael and Sonny.

I like all his bands, really all of them, but Sonny and Michael plus Prince have a certain chemistry.

I haven´t heard the Conga performance yet. Is the rendition of I´m Yours a full version, with complete lyrics?

" I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Are we gonna smoke?"

Version of I'm Yours don't feature all the lyrics but it's really cool version and he sings in his

normal singing voice.

He also played The Beatles song With a Little Help of my Friends -great version

somebody in the audience shouted

I like it there and Prince said eekh is that what you wanna hear

and he segued into full version of the song.

I was just listening to some of that earlier today. It was an amazing show, that's for sure.

I was at this gig, amazing. Seeing the power trio back together was worth the drive down from SF alone. When he played a Little Help From Your Friends he was cueing ron wood to come up & play with him. Apparently wood left early because his fiancee spilled a cocktail on his suit..

A very star studded affair. At the Nokia theatre show I had Cuba Gooding JR in front of me & Ice Cube to the left. Magic Johnson caused the biggest stir as everyone was giving the LA native a standing O when he walked in. At the Conga Room I also remember seeing the adjoining restaurant scramble to physically squeeze in a table for Eddie Murphy & his gorgeous lady. Nothing beats a Prince gig in LA.

Great show, would love it if a cleaned up version surfaced, or better still a shiny soundboard.

I always thought Magic was from Michigan, not L.A.

Nice to know that Ice Cube is still down with Prince. I have been into Cube´s music since his very first records in the early 80s ( C.I.A, Stereo Crew, the first NWA sessions), and it´s nice to know that both Prince and Ice Cube are still making good music.

So Ron Wood left because his suit was ruined? lol

That´s a very poor excuse for the epitome of Rock n Roll.

...for once banished I agree with you. P was on fire that night. I was totally blown away w/ "I'm Yours". I also liked his dialogue in between songs.

FarFunknugin you were very lucky to have witnessed that show in the flesh.

Hey Farfunknugin, we must have been sitting close to each other at the Nokia Theatre show because Cuba Gooding Jr. was in the row in front of me two or three seats over. He looked like he was having a great time.

I have seen Prince a few times and that Conga Room show just might be the best. His guitar playing was amazing, I just wish the set had been longer.

Why not? The last time he worked with them is not that long ago.
