Quick question about a song played in the movie 'Purple Rain'... I'm sure this has already been asked but I tried searching to see if someone already answered this, with no luck, so here I go.....
There's a scene where the Kid's band is playing this beat that I am SURE is from 'Computer Blue' (this is the scene where the Kid walks in asking where Wendy and Lisa are, then the old white bearded dude then comes and tells him Billy needs to see him.....NOW)
I tried looking for this particular beat in EVERY version of 'Computer Blue' I could find, with no luck (although in the extended version you can clearly hear the beat, along with other instruments and effects). Is there ANY version of Computer Blue that has the 'bare bones' version of that beat, as it was played in the movie?

2 my knowledge, it's just this [Edited 2/2/11 19:34pm] Yes, at 19, I finally saw the Revolution, a legendary band. And I talked to Wendy!!! In addition to seeing Prince, I have now lived life. Thank you Purple People!!

I don't think there is where just that beat from movie. Plus in the MOVIE Bobby, Mark and Matt are just Rehearsing the song without the other members to add "instruments and effects" to the song. Some people think I'm kinda cute
But that don't compute when it comes 2 Y-O-U.

It's Computer Blue. I use to rewind that scene all the time. It's FUNKY!

I don't know if it's the same, but I just heard a live version from the tour and the beat is super-funky! "We've never been able to pull off a funk number"
"That's becuase we're soulless auttomatons"

They are playing Computer Blue, but I imagine is just a basic live rendition filmed on the spot for the scene.
What I would really like is the full clean version of the purple rain cords on Princes tape. .

I always thought they were doing a version of "Jungle Love", note the sort of guilty, oops-he-caught-us look along with the "where the hell have you been?" look. Just sort of jamming on it because they like the song, although they could never tell the Kid that. I'm just saying...

at one point they play a bit of Possessed. I am thinking that may be what you are thinking of. "Keep on shilling for Big Pharm!"

I guess I'll just have to record it from the movie and loop it....I REALLY like that beat by itself for some reason

No, that's when Morris is drinking champagne with Apollonia. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

It's from the Extended Version of Computer Blue.
Pretty sure the part you're hearing in the movie is the "na-na-na-na-na, wave your hand in the air, now everybody sing it" part of the song. Around 6:20 or so.
