February 7 is my birthday, I'll be in Toronto that morning. I could hop a short flight to NYC. That would be so amazing! Unfortunately I have to be back in Alaska to teach in the afternoon on Tuesday. I could get a late flight after the show and maybe make it.

Here's the whole article: Well there were a lot of kids at the previous MSG shows, with their parents, from ages 5 and up, so I'm not surprised Cee Lo would not sing that song using "F**k you" in it on 2/7. It is what it is.

Say what? Cee Lo Green To Open For Prince In NYC, Feb. 7

Prince never ceases to surprise us. His final (?) show at New York’s Madison Square Garden is on February 7th, and today we got the news that opening for him will be Cee Lo Green, the mastermind between the hugely popular song, “F%#k You”.

If you’ve been to a Prince concert in the last several years, you know that Prince doesn’t go for profanity anymore. He even changes the words to some of his classic hits to avoid it.So now he’s invited the very guy that’s becoming a household name because of it to open for him? See what I mean – Prince is surprising. We’ll have to see if Cee Lo has to put any money in the swear jar by the end of the night.

Prince is a fan of Cee Lo’s – he’s been playing his hit “Crazy” at his live shows for the last few years.

Prince has also been jumping on stage with his opening acts at Madison Square Garden during the Welcome 2 America tour. So which Cee Lo song will Prince join in on? Only the purple one knows… -Dr.FB

I don't care what he sings, Cee-Lo is funky and I'm glad he's gonna be a part of the purple festivities! I'll be singing "Forget You" with the rest of them! lol

I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

God, this is SUPER corny!!!! He has just fallen waaaaay off these days. I mean, what is this, Sesame Street Live or something??! Stop trying to dumb down your shit so that the "whole family" can attend. There's plenty of shit these days that's family-oriented, and the funk don't need to be one of them too. Who cares that you can bring your kids to the show?!! Their asses should be in the bed anyway at that time of night!

GD, he's such a damn light-weight these days!! disbelief

I hear you. biggrin I doubt anyone singing along to the song, who has their kids there, would sing the term "F**k" you with their kids standing right next to them, if Cee Lo actually chooses to sing that song as "Forget You". Then again you have some airbrain parents that swear in front of their kids on a daily basis. Anyway, like you purplecam, I look forward to seeing him perform on 2/7 as well. From the beginning of the announcement of these W2A shows, it was billed as family friendly, so no surprise.

Yes it was and we were there to witness that but it has gone over the heads of a lot of these people in here. The biggest laugh in all of this is that the folks complaining are the ones who not only won't be going to see Cee-Lo, let alone Prince on 2/7 but they aren't even near NY to do anything about it. Freakin hilarious! lol lol lol

I'm not sure I understand why people NEED to hear cursing... confuse

It's not like "F**K You" has been playing on the radio.

If you really, really cannot live without the F word, then listen to the album version. confused

I swear, people complain about the strangest things... lol

Well I never listen to the radio, but I don't have any doubt that it is played here on the radio.

I just think it is ridiculous to ask an artist to censor his art. And I wonder how Prince would have reacted to that if somebody would have asked the same of him back in the day.

Cee-Lo is very current, very popular just now. It's no surprise at all really that Prince has got him on board.

In the age of "radio edits" and "Parental Advisory" versions of albums, I don't really see it as censorship. He was just asked to do that version instead of the other one. It's not like he was asked to rewrite his whole song...

I think they were talking about the "update" making Cee lo sing "foget you" instead of Fuck you. if I were bringing my kids to this show (7 and 4) I'd just tell them you might here a few "grown up" words tonight kids. I really would mind
"not a fan" falloff yeah...ok
