the best song on 'Controversy' music I can't believe that it wasn't released as a single.

Most under-appreciated Good song from Controversy cool Seems like its fun-ness is similar to Dirty Mind's When U Were Mine. Definitely my guilty pleasure from Controversy. It gives people their energy back right after listening to Do Me, Baby on the tracklisting.

Fav part until the ending is "I strangle Valentino! (repeat) U been mine ever since! (repeat)" this the part he turns around and points to crowd "If anybody ask you (repeat) U belong to PRINCE, oo, Come on baby, Get up!"

Just classic punky awesomeness I tell u! biggrin

Yes, at 19, I finally saw the Revolution, a legendary band. And I talked to Wendy!!! biggrin In addition to seeing Prince, I have now lived life. Thank you Purple People!!

Its ok. One of the least artistic and most pop songs on the Controversy set. Definitely a forerunner to tracks like Sleep Around, Acknowledge Me, and Dance 4 Me. I prefer all these more.

Private Joy is a precursor to all of Prince's most famous songs. Prior to this, Prince had not put a scorching solo on a track, much less an onstensibly frothy, lighthearted track. This is the proto-type to songs like Let's Go Crazy, When Doves Cry, ICNTTPOYM, etc.

I've always loved, "Private Joy." I Love that little breathing hesitation in the vocals. The song gets ya movin' and it's fun to sing along with.

Can we get 2gether
To talk about everything?
We can talk about all of our dreams
Better yet darling...
We can talk about sleeping in.~0ne

He must have been proud of the solo, since he sampled it 13 years later on “Orgasm.”

A GREAT pop song, with a MENTAL guitar solo to finish. An absolute hightlight of a criminally underrated album.
We HAVE to celebrate the 30th anniversary of this album as it reverts to Prince's ownership.

Apart from the political stuff, Controversy is a great and truly underrated album. It usually doesnt get the credit it deserves but having a celebration thread for it this year would be alot of fun
