Love Love Love it....I always crank it up real high and sing along "Private Joo--oooo--oooy"...much to the dismay of my neighbours lol

Oh yes I love the break down starting with "I strangle Valentino..." as well. Who is Valentino anyway ?.....

Brilliant Brillant pop genius. Always puts me in a good mood. Lucky girls that get all these great songs written about them. The relationship may end but the songs live on.

Its ok. One of the least artistic and most pop songs on the Controversy set. Definitely a forerunner to tracks like Sleep Around, Acknowledge Me, and Dance 4 Me. I prefer all these more.

Private Joy is a precursor to all of Prince's most famous songs. Prior to this, Prince had not put a scorching solo on a track, much less an onstensibly frothy, lighthearted track. This is the proto-type to songs like Let's Go Crazy, When Doves Cry, ICNTTPOYM, etc.

Indeed. Especially when one considers this was also the first time he used the Linn as his only source of drums.
