Anyone notice that they were not printed in the CD booklet and all the other lyrics from the other songs were? Anyone know why? It's bugging me...

that is weird i never noticed that ???

I assume because the lyrics are spoken, rather than sung... For example, the rant on Lady Cab Driver is not included in the lyrics either. Not saying it makes sense, just trying to work out a possible rationale...

The lyrics for "All The Critics........" are printed in my copy, but are missing "International Lover."

I noticed that with my copy as well, yet in my Prince lyrics folder that i have they both appear there. All The Critics Love u in New York & the spoken parts of International Lover.

I get most of my lyrics from princelyrics.co.uk.

Don't really know why they weren't printed, although AtCLUiNY is situated right at the bottom of the page that the end of LCD is on (my copy anyway. I always put it down to a printing & cutting error.

How about the album, are they printed on that? Mine have been put in storage so i havn't got access to them at the moment to check!

My best guess and I'm probably right, he made all that up on the spot, right in the studio. It's possible nothing was ever written except the title.

lol the 1st time I've seen it, I thought something was bootleg (no pun intended ) about my promo copy! But I checked up the vinyl reference site and calmed down once I saw it on there too. I'm like how can this song not have lyrics?

I agree with the poster who said they lyrics are said but not sung. However, he does sing the chorus... or am I delusional?

I assumed it was spacing. The original vinyl release had two inner sleeves, both with full-size pictures on one side and lyrics on the back. Spacing-wise, they didn't have room to include it and still have the five columns of lyrics with some white (purple) space.

The CD booklet probably was just put together with all the same material that the vinyl was.

Now that I think about it, I can't remember what the old DMSR-less CD of 1999 did. I assume it left out the lyrics to DMSR, as well as to All the Critics. I lost that CD a long time ago, so I can't look to find out.

I have a copy of the CD. It doesn't have lyrics to All the Critics and no trace of DMSR

On old copies of the 1999 CD, DMSR was not included on it?!? Do you just mean the lyrics or the song was not on there? I didn't know the old CD's of it did not include it...

I wonder why they left it off...

It was due to the length of the album (70:33). I don’t know exactly why, but on 1980s CDs the record labels didn’t always push the full 74-minute length of the CD and would leave a track out.

This is because Warners didn't think it a good idea to release a double album by their somewhat new artist with only underground achievement as a musician, performer, etc etc. So they released a single album of 1999 before the double album. This version left off DMSR because of space issues on the disc. And here we have the CD from teh same single-album version w/o DMSR. To continue story, sales of album did really well and the fact that DMSR received nice acclaim by those who heard it in Tom Cruise's Risky Business movie. Plus, clubs and such played the record on turntables and a single of DMSR was released in the UK to be played on British radio. Great reviews once more . Soooo with all the positive evidence that Princey was worth the risk, they fulfilled his wishes and released the double-album version of 1999 not too long after later. Hope this helps! Feel free to correct me, veterans, if I've given wrong information or left out other important facts.
