Purple Rain outtakes I'm putting together a disc of the B-sides and outtakes from Purple Rain as the third disc of my custom 3-disc special edition Purple Rain set. I know the B-sides, but which outtakes should I include? Two obvious ones are G-Spot and Electric Intercourse, since both were originally intended to be in the film, but were replaced with other songs. There's also Possessed, a snippet of which appears in the film.
Someone on Facebook swears that I should include The Dance Electric, but does that song have any connection to Purple Rain outside of the fact that it was recorded in '84? What about songs like All Day, All Night and Mutiny? I am having a hard time deciding if I want to include a bunch of songs from the general time period, or just ones that are known to have been considered for the film and/or the soundtrack?
Opinions/advice/insight would be welcome. Thanks!

It also has the When Doves Cry Kirky J remix although it doesnt say so in the tracklisting. I do thin however that you should include songs like All Day All Night and The Dance Electric. Even though they werent meant for the film, they are still outtakes from the era anyway.

If you are thinking about making this a soundtrack album, I'd include Jungle Love, The Bird, Sex Shooter, Possessed (played in the movie as I recall) and Modernaire. All of those songs are Prince tunes. (I see that this is already mentioned-- so I am just agreeing with what was written above). [Edited 1/16/11 22:32pm] The expanded version of my book PRINCE and The Purple Rain Era Studio Sessions 1983-1984 was released in November 2018. This may sound a bit strange but.....in my opinion, The Dance Electric is most definitely a song that should be included on your list because he mentions it in the song "God" and, as far as I recall, during some of the monologues of the Purple Rain tour, so it is, as far as I´m concerned, part of the whole Purple Rain theme or concept or canon. And Possessed, both vocal and the instrumental version, should of course be on your list, too, especially since Possessed can be heard in the movie, too. G-Spot was replaced by Darling Nikki for the movie, so G-Spot should be there, too.
I´m not so sure about All Day, All Night but there was a list of songs that were originally intended for Purple Rain in Per Nielsen´s first edition of "Prince-A Documentary", maybe you should look there but I don´t know how accurate that old data still is.
Funny thing about the outtakes is that Al Magnoli claimed that there were almost a hundred songs to choose from for that album and film, but Bobby Z. once said that there weren´t that many songs from that era, at least not really that many that we haven´t heard of yet. It´s mostly the songs that we are familiar with ( like Wednesday, Electric Intercourse, some alternate versions of The Beautiful Ones, Darling Nikki and Computer Blue but not really dozens of outtakes, and for sure not hundreds of unheard songs). I wonder why Al Magnoli said that on the DVD bonus footage. " I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Are we gonna smoke?"

does anyone know where i could score the movie version of I Would Die 4 U?

Do you mean you want a rip of the movie performance, with audience cheers and clapping, etc? I have no idea where to find that.
As for Wednesday, I'm not sure I'd want to include it if the quality is so poor. I didn't even know it was circulating, in any form! https://www.youtube.com/@PurpleKnightsPodcast
