'All Day, All Night' appreciation thread

Never heard 'All Day, All Night' untill five minutes ago .. Since then I've got it on repeat! music

The funk literally sweats off this track, my jaw is in a permanent 'dropped' position.

I don't know what I'd do without Prince, honestly. I'm speechless when it comes to how talented this man is! disbelief

BTW - If anyone has any valuable info on this track, I'd really appreciate it hug

welcome to Prince world.... biggrin

Great track. Try search for the bootleg: Box O' Chocolates. If you haven't heard this track until a moment ago, there are probably A LOT of outtakes you haven't heard then.

Out of all of Prince's unreleased tracks, this one is by far my favourite. I know Jill Jones recorded it, but prince's version is incredible. I wish he'd perform it more often. I like quite a few of prince's unreleased songs but this one is easily tops for me.

Reminds me of The Dance Electric, you can hear the similarities. One probably spawned the other.

Absolutely love Jill's version. Raw energy.

Revolution version excellent too but would love Prince to turn this out live sometime soon - full track not just chants etc. cool

The basic tracks were recorded from the birthday concert 1984, then overdubs were done in the studio - a lot like some of the Purple Rain album.

between this and "large room with no lights" being played live in europe and the latter

even being released on the montreux website in an updated studio version, i had my

hopes up way high that he was going to release at least an album's worth of vault stuff.

sadly nothing else has come of it but those one/two off performances. i'm still curious

as to how he picked those all of a sudden.

was he thinking of releasing vault tracks on a sort of "crystal ball 2" or was it just that

he came across those tracks again when they were sorting out material for the lotus

website [there was talk of 10 albums worth of unreleased material being sifted through].

that was obsviously nipped in the bud, but i wonder if he's still at least considering the

stuff for possible release.

perhaps for inclusion on remasters? since he said he's already got his albums up to and

including "dirty mind" back.

then again, it doesnt' really matter since plans don't mean that much in prince land, not

until you hold the product in your hand. still, it's typical of prince to dust those tunes off,

play them live, have awesome fan feedback and then just don't do anything with those

songs at all anymore.

and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

I think it was something he did to get the die hards excited for a while. But yeah, prince is so unpredictable, we will never know what he is going to do next. I hope he releases an entire cd or two full of unreleased gems (but no remixes this time). Or includes them in his remasters, if we are going to get remasters at all.
