falloff Sensitive much? It's my opinion and I don't care if you agree or not. The key word I used was "some". I don't want to see a 50 year old man or woman with their ass hanging out! lol Maybe you think that looks good-I don't. Yes both Prince and Madonna are fit but still I don't wanna see it.

About the other old looks, I like it when an artist changes his/her look over time. No need to keep going back to former styles. It's fine to mix in 1 theme or something from the past but I think it's better to come up with something new.

why would I be sensitive. Um are we all challenging each others opinions on this? maybe the sensitivity is on your end. wink U still did not answer my question. What outfits our you refering to that are too old for Prince? as a few of us with pics are proving already is that a lot of what Prince is wearing now is similar to what he wore 1985-1986

Why would you be sensitive? When you randomly try to insult posters: "why because you can't rock it" that's usually a sign that because you didn't like what someone said, you're gonna try (and in this case fail) to attack that poster personally.

What outfits is he too old for? I don't have pics but the revealing ones as I said in my original post! Not hard to understand. Don't care if you respond to this or not because you're acting all crazy up in this thread.

let us know!

Let me ask you: If you could fit in your clothes from the 80s, would you still wear them?

Show up to work with a feathered haircut, parted down the middle, with a Pink and Flourescent orange polka-dot shirt, with a skinny tie, covered by your Members Only Jacket. This ensemble would be rounded out with some parachute pants, purple leg warmers and some first generation Reeboks. The first thing people would think: Who is this joke?

Now imagine Prince. Image is everything. Not only would the guy not wear last year's fashions, he wouldn't wear last year's fashion designed specifically for him by the world's top designers. Donning the purple trenchcoat with the spikes on the sleeves would be like the scene in Austin Powers when he walks through the casino with his 60s swinger clothes on. It may have been cool then, but now, it's pathetic.

Besides, what serious performer wears the same thing they did 30 years ago? (Beyond Kiss, but that's a different story)

That's the practical answer, now the philosophical answer:

Prince doesn't look back. He does something, then leaves it on its own.

I think about this when people go to Graceland and see how tacky everything is. They act like Elvis would still be wearing the jumpsuit and have the shag carpeting in his home. He would have a bigger and modern home, and dress in 2011 fashion. Those impersonators, ..scuse me "tribute artists," still wear the jumpsuits, just because it was the last thing Elvis wore. It may have been cool then, but now it's pathetic.

You grow and evolve, let your heroes do it too.

My $0.02

Chas

good answer, i wish others could realise that.

In concerts where he plays the old hits, maybe. Other than that, no.

I got a whole closet full of Prince-style clothes, haven't even looked at 'em in about 15 years. Couldn't wear them even if I wanted to (which I don't!) because my 30-inch waist days are long gone. Not just shirts and vests and stuff, also a bunch of double-breasted suits that cut off right above the waist. All in near-perfect condition. Who knows, maybe it will come back in style like the skinny ties and 1950's eyeglasses shrug

yeah, maybe for the fans to have their little moment. even though he might be a little uncomfortable wearing them. you know, flashbacks and all.

You have to face one thing - he's not 26 but 52 smile

It would be kinda sad seeing him in his 80's clothes. It would be like he desperately wanted to make himself look younger...

But hey! Without or with his clothes on he still looks incredibly hot and I truly LOVE the way he dresses now! drooling

good point, people today find legendary artist wearing their old clothes some kind of cry for attention. but for some reason they didn't do that to michael jackson or KISS

those clothes belong to the past, to the superior&funnier '80s...

That is SO true.

No your being sensitive, I was just playing around with the '...you can't rock it' We're in cyberspace, you don't hear and see my expression when I wrote it and if you did you would have laughed too. I've said stuff like that to my mother when she says something about some 20something wearing something my mom wouldn't wear and my mom laughs. So no I'm not sensitive.

lol um again, I don't think the original poster is talking about Prince wear is Dirty Mind stuff. I posted tons of pics from the 1999-Lovesexy era that are hardly risque and like I and others have shown what Prince is wearing now he wore similar in those time periods. I think I settle and closed the case.

there are a lot of things I would wear.

Some people were really out there with there look, but that goes for the 1990's and 2000's

1980's fashion is in now just like a lot of 1970's fashion is in

1980's fashion: Bomber jackets, adidas sneakers, tight jeans/pants, kangol hats ... those are just a few things.

isn't it more that current fashion is (much) inspired by the 80's?

that's something different than putting on the exact same stuff as 25-30 years ago.

True, and I think that's what the original question is about to a degree as well.

Inspired by the 80's or whatever time period. Some of the clothing looks exactly the same

Prince's style in a lot of ways was nothing similar to the time period. I mean the ruffled shirts and coats and some of the things worn were inspired by clothing from the 1700 or 1800's lol so for the level of performer he is to pull it up wouldn't be a big deal. Michael Jackson for example his look didn't change in leaps n bound for any album, he added something to his look but it was his unique look and what we would have seen RIP on his recent shows/tour wouldn't have been much different from the 1980's or 1990's and it wouldn't be a big deal.

I mean think about some of the things he wore during the Gold experience and in the early - mid/late 1990's most of that stuff had no 'time period' equated with it. People weren't wearing that in the 1990's

There are some styles I wore in the 80s that I wouldn't think twice about bringing back. shrug

And there are some things from the 80s that I still have - like the purple suede and snakeskin boots I wore to the Purple Rain concert in 1984. They still fit and are in pretty good shape - and I've worn them within the last year.

We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.
