Should Prince dress the way he did in the 80's today?

I know people sorta have a small problem with Prince's new lifestyle. you know, not as sexual as he use to be. and the fact the his faith has been renewed with God has turned some heads. but one of the biggest things people would like to see is Prince where some of his old clothes. I know he can he still fit them. they specifically want the 1999-Purple Rain wardrobe. I think it might spark a certain something with the audience. but the problem is a few of his most famouse outfits have been given away by himsef to charity auctions. this same act has been done by revolution members Wendy and Lisa. his other outfits have been said to be stored away in Paisley Park.

So let me know, how would you feel if you were front row, the lights went out, and the organs for Let's Go Crazy start and the whole concert arena shouts with excitement. Then you hear those magic words "Dearly beloved!" and your so happy, but yours expecting to see the Prince you usually see. but when you hear the last intro line "Go Crazy, punch a higher Floor!!!!" and the lights come on and the guitar rips it up, and you see your Prince in his classic clothing!!!!

how would that make you feel?

let us know!

ok i've read the comments so far, and i agree with the "no"s. because i feel that Prince has come so far now, that he has a uniqueness about himself now that you can't find in anyone else these days. if u ask me, all Prince has to is just KEEP BEING PRINCE. i'm satisfied with that.

Only if the whole audience is also required to dress the same as they did in the 80's.

You have to face one thing - he's not 26 but 52 smile

It would be kinda sad seeing him in his 80's clothes. It would be like he desperately wanted to make himself look younger...

But hey! Without or with his clothes on he still looks incredibly hot and I truly LOVE the way he dresses now! drooling

NO. HELL NO. F*CK NO

'00s audiences/media are so PC, insipid and boring that it would probably kill his career and his current "comeback" once and for all...

those clothes belong to the past, to the superior&funnier '80s...

That's like telling Denise to put on some lingerie & a trench coat, Uhh... He kinda is wearing some of his old stuff. He's been wearing shirts similar to the ruffle ones he rocked during the PR era. He dresses pretty cool now anyways... I just don't wanna see that 20ten outfit again.

In concerts where he plays the old hits, maybe. Other than that, no.

I got a whole closet full of Prince-style clothes, haven't even looked at 'em in about 15 years. Couldn't wear them even if I wanted to (which I don't!) because my 30-inch waist days are long gone. Not just shirts and vests and stuff, also a bunch of double-breasted suits that cut off right above the waist. All in near-perfect condition. Who knows, maybe it will come back in style like the skinny ties and 1950's eyeglasses shrug

let us know!

Let me ask you: If you could fit in your clothes from the 80s, would you still wear them?

Show up to work with a feathered haircut, parted down the middle, with a Pink and Flourescent orange polka-dot shirt, with a skinny tie, covered by your Members Only Jacket. This ensemble would be rounded out with some parachute pants, purple leg warmers and some first generation Reeboks. The first thing people would think: Who is this joke?

Now imagine Prince. Image is everything. Not only would the guy not wear last year's fashions, he wouldn't wear last year's fashion designed specifically for him by the world's top designers. Donning the purple trenchcoat with the spikes on the sleeves would be like the scene in Austin Powers when he walks through the casino with his 60s swinger clothes on. It may have been cool then, but now, it's pathetic.

Besides, what serious performer wears the same thing they did 30 years ago? (Beyond Kiss, but that's a different story)

That's the practical answer, now the philosophical answer:

Prince doesn't look back. He does something, then leaves it on its own.

I think about this when people go to Graceland and see how tacky everything is. They act like Elvis would still be wearing the jumpsuit and have the shag carpeting in his home. He would have a bigger and modern home, and dress in 2011 fashion. Those impersonators, ..scuse me "tribute artists," still wear the jumpsuits, just because it was the last thing Elvis wore. It may have been cool then, but now it's pathetic.

You grow and evolve, let your heroes do it too.

falloff You hit the nail on the head! Who would wear the stuff they wore back then...except as a joke?! Or unless you are very young and it is the latest fashion style... hmph! lol

Yep, as much as I love Purple Rain Prince & it was this era that introduced me to him, I definately wouldn't want to see him in all that again.

Like Prince I think most of us fans have moved on from that & now enjoy(?) looking back at that era with a sneaky grin!!!! Thinking wink lol

Prince once tried 2 change his name 2 a symbol so that ur'e mother couldn't find him in the phonebook!
