What happened to the Welcome 2 America Tour... I was looking forward to seeing the Concert series. What happened to the Tour?? It looked very successful in NYC.....Was the rest of the tour cancelled? Any new dates outside of NYC? |

seems like NYC has a lot of love for P so it would be great if he actually did a proper residency AND actually did some shows at the Apollo!!! |

Who said it was a tour? It was stated from the start that it was going to be a bunch of shows in the NY area. No one has said ANYTHING about a tour starting. If that happens, that would be great but this is where things are right now. I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that |

i'm just saying how we got no notice for our shows or this new one we get less then a month so if he did it announce more obviously it'll be last minute...
i hate to say it either but i took as just a few nyc area dates and not a full american tour too. but being i live here it doesn't matter if he does one or not. i'd love for all my midamerican and west coast prince friends to see him but if i had to put my $$$ on it like a race horse i'm betting it's just nyc |

If it's just NYC, then consider yourself lucky to be a part of the Purple Pandemonium in NYC! I didn't get a chance to go to Vegas when he did the residency in 2006-2007 or London or L.A. in 2007-2008. It would be great if this became a tour and the rest of the world could be in on the fun but if it doesn't happen, then oh well. Besides, it's NYC's turn for Prince's attention and I couldn't be more happy about it! I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that |

wasn't part of the plan to do some more intimate gigs at the Apollo?. I know that he booked it at the last minute when McCartney already had something booked on the same night so thought he would at least come back. If it's it good enough for Macca then.....! |

All I can say is--I'm glad I went to the Izod concerts... Can't afford any more but the ones I got to see were sure worth it! "Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything." --Plato

It was never billed as a tour. Prince never called it a tour.

The shirt in the merchandise store says "Welcome to America Tour" on it. I hope it ends up being a tour. |

Yeah, Livenation are not calling it the Welcome 2 America Tour, Prince has not openly stated that it is a tour (has he?), but someone posted that the t-shirts being sold have W2A Tour on them.

I have no idea errant, i'm in the UK so have not attended, i was just wondering why people were calling it a tour.
Are you going to any of the shows, 18th and is it 4th Feb? |

Nah. I've decided that I'm only willing to travel a couple hundred miles to see him these days. If he's no closer than, say, Paisley Park (if even), then he might as well not be playing, as far as I'm concerned. No point in wishing to go and working my ass off to get there, just to hand him my money in person. "does my cock look fat in these jeans?" |

Just checked the t-shirt which I bought and wore at the Izod W2A concerts and, yes, it says "Welcome 2 America Tour!" Whether it will be an actual tour and not just a residency is in doubt at this point... Although I wish he would tour and come out west cause I can't afford to go back to NYC for more concerts! Same here, the chances of him playing Scotland again are quite slim i think. Which would mean a 4hr journey to London, i go to London often to see gigs (Prince included in the past) but if i'm honest, i would really rather spend the money on going to see other bands/artists.
The recent shows just do not seem to be what i want to see, that was evident with the 20Ten gigs too.
Anyway, sorry for the topic change.

Maybe he will announce more shows in more cities throughout the year.

Here's the deal, in my opinion, that Prince realized and other artists need to understand--that in this tight economy, people aren't just going to go to any old venue to hear their favorite artist perform. Even Prince had problems filling the Izod for concerts--but he had none filling the MSG. Why? Because it is an attractive venue in the heart of New York City--which would be the added attraction to bring crowds in to his concert. Even though I saw him in New Jersey, I definitely took the time to see NYC for the first time. If Prince will continue the W2A as a real tour, I'm sure he will be looking for venues which will attract people to the cities in which they are located...because of the added attraction of the location itself. That way, people will feel like they got bang for the buck as far as travel expenses go. Well, I think if the official t-shirt says tour......and its being sold at the shows as tour.....and that tour can be classified as more than one show.....
Add to the fact that many of Prince's tours never had the word tour in them.....
I think its a case of.....why do you say its not a tour?? . |
