Should P give up trying to make 'dance' songs?

Time to face facts here folks. P was once master of the dance floors weaving grooves, beats and imagination like no other. However, now he sounds like what he is i.e. a mature [yes old!]man trying to keep hold of his crown and failing miserably.

His attempts at dance and dare I say it even funk are now filled with cheesy synth lines, horrid [truly horrid raps that border on creepy!],zero chicken grease on guitar, NO FRICKEN FUNKY BASS HOOKS!,no groove, no energy and often hampered by poorly chosen lyrics.

F.U.N.K. was great IMHO but it took a lot of negative energy to get him to that point of creativity again.

Is it time for him to focus on the more mature, rock, blues, ballad genere now? - I say 100% yes.

As I always say, I love him no matter what so don't flame me!

I just wish he'd try to make a different kind of dance music. And use no equipment newer than 1984.

I also wish he'd use way shabbier musicians and work the hell out of them.

Dance 4 Me, Get On The Boat, Black Sweat, Everlasting Now Lolita and Lavaux were reighning crowns in the past 10 years to me.

To be honest I'd like to hear an all party dance album from Prince....we never really had one...and like abocve stated..with no equipment older than 1984...I'd still take up to 1989 though..he threw down some good experiemntal beats till that point.

Straight Jacket Funk Affair
Album plays and love for vinyl records.

Exactly! Jams like "Love" make my ass shake but jams like "Let's Work" make my ass shake even harder! lol

'dance for me' does did sound great on the french TV show but lets not talk about the other dance/funk on MPLS sound CD!. Get on the boat [same old formulae], Black sweat agreed, Lolita - 50year old man singing THAT Nooooo thanks!, Lavauex - lovely pop song BUT not dance/funk IMHO.

I've ALWAYS wanted a all-dance album from Prince. That would just blow my mind if Prince were to surprise us and make that kind of album.

I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that
