Peter Andre is 'hardest working singer'

Peter Andre
Peter Andre performed to almost 100,000 fans on his 38-date Revelation tour in 2010

Peter Andre has been named Britain's hardest working singer for notching up more major concerts in 2010 than any other artist.

The Mysterious Girl singer topped the list, compiled by PRS for Music, after performing to almost 100,000 fans on his 38-date Revelation tour in 2010.

Previous winners Status Quo took second place in the annual chart, with X Factor runners-up JLS coming in third.

Irish band Westlife and veteran rocker Rod Stewart completed the top five.

Andre said: "Nothing beats performing live. Performing in front of thousands of fans is my ultimate experience so I'm delighted to get this recognition from PRS for Music."

The singer's career spans almost two decades, after first releasing an album in his native Australia in 1993.

He had his first hit in the UK in 1995 with Mysterious Girl which reached number two in chart but its re-release following his 2004 appearance on ITV1's I'm A Celebrity saw it reach the top spot.

London rapper Example notched up the most performances at smaller concert venues, followed by Ellie Goulding and Tinie Tempah.

I meant alive..I said IN showbusiness..not OF showbusiness. James was the man...but he looked like that from too much booze and drugs.

I wouldn't call him the hardest working man in the showbiz because:

He doesn't tour as much as other artists.

He doesn't play very much new material in concert.

He doesn't do a lot of promotion.

He doesn't compose high quality albums.

C'mon give him a break - he paid his dues being hitched to Katie P.

He's on a whirlwind career peak at the moment, spotted him promoting his last album at our local Asdas a couple of months ago - was even gracious enough to pose for photos sat in a shopping trolley - even leaning against the fag counter for a couple of shots. Now would Prince do that for his fans?? No he wouldn't...

Truth be told, we have no idea how much/when/how hard Prince works.

The good deal of what he creates is never released. For all we know he is making stuff all of the time.

So, it seems to me that all we have to go on it touring/concerts/etc.

From what I hear Lil Wayne and Kanye are hot on his heels. However given that he releases only a fraction of what he puts out ~ who knows??

There came a time when the risk of remaining tight in the bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom. Anais Nin.

but those who are the most devoid of talent climb the charts every time. and no-one is as devoid of talent as andre. he makes britney spears and chris brown seem like miles and coltrane

4 Prince, what other musician has released an album every year and toured almost every or every other year???????? He constantly stays in the studio and when he is out, it's mainly to PERFORM.

I understand the cruise-control, but still. He's a 24/7 musician, literally.

Yes, at 19, I finally saw the Revolution, a legendary band. And I talked to Wendy!!! biggrin In addition to seeing Prince, I have now lived life. Thank you Purple People!!

The number is debatable. So let's say: he doesn't release high quality albums on a regular basis,ok? wink

He must work pretty damn hard, talent only goes so far. I was recently listening to Old Friends 4 Sale, as a musician myself, I know how much of an investment each and every song is and I rarely do it anymore because I can't do it distracted, here we had a guy who constantly kept up his chops, and still came up with great songs, songs so good that he had extra material when his annual album came out. Also, by watching his early live performances and then seeing how quickly he progressed, with no background for dance and to become as good as he became that quickly tells you of a strong work ethic, especially considering all the other things he did. If you watch his early dancing, he was atrocious and even imitated white punk rockers, all that went out the window after MJ made a fool out of him with the James Brown "performance". Some people are better suited to hardwork than others, have stronger constitutions etc.., the contention that P didn't sleep much had some truth to it obviously.

Co-Sign I got to think that anyone that would compare a no-talent bum like Lil Wayne to Prince ( an artist with back to back records going back 30 years, a vault of extra material, many other productions and a fucking right to slack off on the touring after so many years of back to back tours is smoking crack.

I would agree hardest working musician male. For female, that Ani Difranco is quite productive, and actively involved in her career
