I'm sure if it's real, Prince would have is people purchase it and/or take it down. If it is Prince's family memeber, they need to have thier behinds beat for selling something so personal.

You know I think this is real. In one of the Prince bio videos it shows a copy of his birth certificate and it has his middle name as Rodger (which make sense and most people have a first name as a middle name as opposed to a Last name).

I hope the seller get a few grand for this item. It is not the property of Prince and never was, it was given away to someone. So there is no moral or legal reason why the seller should not be able to sell it.

The sad thing is, there is no way to verify it so the seller will not get what it is worth. If it can be verified as authentic then it should be worth thousands. YES thousands!

The seller is a fool for putting it on ebay it should have been in a real well know auction.

Should've found a way to give it to Prince in first place, but on the other side, I agree with you all the way in support of "preserving" or "conserving" it nod

Does it even look like Prince to u guys? I know newborns look really diff. before the features start coming in, but me just askin....

[Edited 1/7/11 9:56am]

why give it away? I do not see any reason what so ever to give it away to prince. If prince wants it he can bid on it. As far as looking like prince? I can hardly see the photo. But maybe it can be compared to one of the few photos of him as a toddler that are floating around. But then again New Borns look all weird anyway.

cool

i hope it's genuine & the seller gets a very good price.

i'm not easily fooled, everything about the item feels right.. it's in keeping with the time period, the handwriting, the details are interesting. i love how it isn't perfect like roger & not rogers, the personal references 'to uncle o', the way it's kinda torn & soiled with age.

the seller isn't bullshitting, there is no evidence of desperation, they don't sound too researched. they sound almost apathetic!

also it seems that prince was being called skipper b4 birth... not unusal for expectant mums to do this, affectionate nicknames that stick

& then of course it's a very pretty baby. lovely

$1000 , if it is real it is worth much more. the problem is the seller could not really prove it. I hope it is real. If it is then it can likely be confirmed and authenticated. If it is, it is worth $5000 at least.

HAHA!!! LOL know that's funny! Hehe, and 4 just some more info...

According to the birth cerificate in Jon Bream's Purple Reign, the hospital is spelled Mt. Sinai instead of Sainai as spelled in one of the seller's answers to a question

And looks like the husband got to it becuz it sold for $700. But whoever got it, take care of it...

Yes, at 19, I finally saw the Revolution, a legendary band. And I talked to Wendy!!! biggrin In addition to seeing Prince, I have now lived life. Thank you Purple People!!

Why would people automatically assume it's fake? And why is it disrespectful? And why would Prince even want it or care?

It never belonged to him, nor should it. It's a simple birth announcement, they are given away to friends and family and those people have every right to then sell it as a collectors item.

Are you serious? Most times it's the mom who fills these out and then sends it to family. If it was going to her side I can totally see it filled out that way.
