Question regarding the instrumental tracks on Work It 2.0 Volume 1 How would you differentiate between the instrumental tracks? I mean in disc 1 they're numbered in ascending order: 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5. Then you get to disc 2 and it's even worse. The first instrumental isn't even numbered, it's just called 'Instrumental'. Then for the other instrumentals the numbering starts again from 1 to 8. You get to disc 3 and the numbering for the instrumentals starts again from 1 to 6. This time it's made worse by the two Rebels instrumentals. Disc 4 has no instrumentals, then you reach disc 5, where the numbering starts again: 1 and 2.
I want to add this to my iTunes but I don't want to have to separate this into discs, I'd prefer to have everything in the same album. So, how should I sort out the instrumental tracks? It's really frustrating...
Disc 1
Prince - Sweet Thing
Prince - Instrumental
Prince - Wouldn't You Love To Love Me? #2
Disc 5
The Time - The Bird | |

Have you actually listened to all of them? Many of them are just tiny snips - some as short as a single beat on a snare. I didn't even bother putting that stuff in iTunes. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

You could try sorting them (roughly) by year.

Disc 1 instrumentals 1976. Disc 2 insrumentals are from 1977. Disc 3 instrumentals are from 1978-1979. Disc 5 from 1983-'85?
Maybe someone else can be more accurate with the later ones.

It's about that accurate, ya.
Anyway, the instrumentals aren't all full songs like Genesia states. Some of it is cool to hear because it's just Prince fucking around in the studio doing stuff. It's not crap you really have to distinguish between, tbh.
Although, I truly mourn the fact a full "Traffic Jam" isn't out (and a full "Go" fo that matta). I could play that snippet over and over and over...

I love the Loring Park stuff, and Jelly Jam is a nice little trinket.

I gave the Loring Park Instrumentals bracketed names that i thought fit the sound, just helps me to remember the songs. (i also did it for the guitar instrumentals he did) They are a bit cheesy but i think they work.
some off the jazz/funk titles i came up with: Instrumental #7 (Plain To See) ... (Time With U) ... (Motivation) ... (Savoir Faire) ... (We Like The Vibe) ... (Percussion Piece or Going Bongo!)
Guitar titles: Against The Tide Highway Jam Rumble Junior Spanish Sunshine Wild Ride Loneliness She's Cool

In 'Info' tab, there's the Disc Number field, so you can have everything as one album and still have them as separate discs - if you didn't want to rename any of the files, you could still have them all in order, but as one album. Also if you fill in the year of each track - same result.
I actually agree with Genesia though, how many times are you gonna listen to them? Might not be worth the bother.
