I was listening to a live jam of Come from 93 (I think one of the two on Estandard) and in the middle there is the horn hoo of the song Musicology played on keyboard. never noticed it before.

Was this a common part of the jam? Was that the first time it appeared? Did it resurface between 93 and 2004?

I believe in the second half of the song, the drum pattern is the same as Sexy MF(Second half)

There's one recording / performance of 'Come' on CD1, Track 7 of Estandard but only the one, as far as I'm aware.

The horn arrangement doesn't appear to be related to what appeared on 'Musicology' - at least not what I hear.

To my ears, "Musicology" is very much influenced by James Brown's "Hot Pants":

Ok - my bad. My memory's going with age. I was, of course, talking about Race, not Come. On the second, longer version (10 min.) at 4:20 on my version, the keyboard (Tommy? Hayes?) plays the main horn line from the chorus of Musicology very distinctly, only once and then with variation.

(and, yeah, Toejam, the JB influence is pretty clear...)

Yes, I hear what you're referring to now - thanks. It is close to the line (played on some sort of organ). I get the impression it's part of his improvisation rather than a hook regul;arly played and then re-used later by Prince in 'Musicology'. Interesting.

there's a group called Rhythm Syndicate that has a song from the 1992 c.d. Sex,Life And Love called "sexitivity" .....play it back to back with musicology and they sound similar.
