who is the dude that catches Prince's guitars, wonder if he ever wore one on the head or not. How do u get a job like that anyways??

hi guitar techs catch them, and sometimes they miss and the guitars sometimes get broken, but they just fix em and repaint em

I've been wanting to ask this for a while.... does Prince not have a guitar tech anymore? It seems like, judging from the live videos I've seen, that he just has two instrument stands set up, one with his Hohner and one with his Strat and that's it. Most of the show is played on the same guitar it seems and it never seems to go out of tune. What's the deal?

He has to have a guitar tech. But I'm sure he/she's multi-tasking like a mofo during gigs.

That's what I figure... but I never see this alleged tech and I never see Prince toss the guitars anymore. Maybe I should pay more attention...

i've never seen the guy who plumbs the toilets at gigs, but i'm sure prince has taken a shit at some time

So at the 12/29 show, he threw his guitar once and it went in to a hole beneath the stage. I'm assuming someone caught it. A couple of other times during the show, I saw him pass his guitar to someone under the stage.

But at one point during the show, he leans over the side of the stage, where the VIP tables are, at hands it to some random chick. It looked like he was stuck on the wrong part of the stage and needed to do a quick guitar switch and so he just picked her to dump it onto. She is freaking out for a couple seconds until one of Prince's people came over and snatched it back from her.

Prince hands guitars to people in the audience a lot.

And trust me - that man is never "stuck on the wrong part of the stage." He hits his mark every time.

Who catches Prince guitars? If you can beat his guitar tech up, it might be you.

fact that i heard some of these custom guitars are worth 40k and he throws em like that.. i'd treat that that the all gold one

^^ I have seen Prince throw guitars higher than that, from one side of a stage to the other too.

At the Superbowl halftime show you can see him dealing with a guitar tech.

lol, this is what prompted me to ask the question, watching this performance and also the RRHOF performance of while my guitar gently weeps, he throws it at the end and struts off ever so cooly. i am assuming the 'catchee' in that performance is the same dude that holds him and puts him back on stage when he falls back in the crowd.

This guy here is my all time favorite guitar tech and "guitar catcher" ever.

Too bad he is no longer working for Prince. Takumi had a lot of style and he was a very friendly person,too.
