I agree with errant on that.

Prince spoiling an otherwise tenderfull, intimate ballad with useless sex-talk.

He just don't seem to know when he should back down.

His cover of 'one of us' is very bad also.

using another detached martika-song for a beat, singing without any sense of soul and nuance (contempory R&B people dont seem to realize the original is well sung, the americana-slur of Joan Osbourne is so much better then some annoying, faux-attempt at sincerity Prince does. Prince is to obsessed with his slave-issues to understand)

I think it's a beautiful song. You wouldn't know it from listening to Prince's version, though.

It's so hard for me to boil it down to just one. I hate most of the ballads on Emancipation.

Friend/Lover has to be the worst thing Prince has ever written, though, followed very closely by Let's Have a Baby. Those are just horrid. And the remakes on the album are absolutely useless.

I like Mayte but she just got the worst dreck written for her.
