The you tube thing bugs me slightly.i try to watch certain prince moments on you tube and i get the picture if i'm lucky with corny music.I first really noticed this when i tried to watch prince with beyonce sing purple rain and it was a joke.I can understand wanting to protect your kingdom after warner fucked him over the master copies but not you tube.Its an internet tool for the fans and an advert for his latest music rolled into one.He wonders why lotusflow3r never done as well as it should?.He is his own worst enemy but i still dont hate him.

Your original question, lotusboy, is indeed both aggressive and creepy. You see people on the org dissing Prince for whatever reasons (usually some very valid and well argued reasons) - and then you jump to the conclusion that these people "love to hate" Prince. That is really offensive!

And yes, "love to hate" might be a common expression, but it still means that someone loves hating Prince.

I personally see a lot of love in this specific forum. Many people love his physical appearance, for example his beauty marks ( http://prince.org/msg/7/351869 )

Others, like myself love a lot of his music, listen to it a lot and enjoy this forum for all the musical discussions and celebrations. If you find some of the subjects or even replies not to your taste, why not just skip over them? There are planty more.

I don't understand why you can't grasp objectivity. It offends me that you are that close-minded. Do you look away if someone in your family beats their kids? Outta sight outta mind? It doesn't matter that you love everything Prince does. NO one cares. That is your experience. Share it if you want, I am sure people will post in those threads, too.

It's not negativity, it's objectivity. People do not have to agree with everything you say or feel or do. Why is that a difficult concept for you? Or for anyone? What part about it do you not understand? Whiskas31 or whatever had a similar problem grasping that you could like an artist and not be into every single thing they do.

Clearly if people care about Prince, they're going to weigh in one way or the other. Does it hurt your feelings that some people don't like something? Do you think it hurts Prince's feelings?

The org cracks me up because it's like watching a social experiment on cognitive dissonance. I can think of maybe 1 person who speaks negatively of Prince in a tone that could be considered disrespectful to an obvious degree, but for the most part I think people are fair.

I don't think you can police people's hatred - not that that makes it right, but it absolves you of any responsibility you may feel to offer an alternate point of view in juxtaposition. It is likely if someone feels that strongly (and whether they are legit with those feelings is a diff story), they are far beyond the point of reasoning.

Incidentally, I think that it was an interesting choice to leave out the option to block/ignore people on the org. Now, people are faced with the arduous task of reading sarcastic comments about their favorite artist and they have to learn how to keep their cool in the face of opposing views.

I don't want to police nobody's hatred...I am not an overlooker of the site; that is what a moderator is for. However if one cares to speak their minds; things may change. Change does not happen from no effect. You can sit therer and say that some will never see differently...and it is not that i want them to ... but one can learn also to think about what they say before they do; or how they express themselves...some just troll and want the attention..and those are the easy ones to pick out.

If this is not a place to spout out our opinions, then it is nothing else. I have learned much about the diversity of Prince fans here. Not so much about Prince. But, this is great, because I can say I like this or that, and someone else can say that they don't.

Many people are very zealous with their opinions though. This is fun to watch also. I like to see people who take a personal wound simply because someone else doesn't like their taste. Pretty thin skinned. But that is different personality traits, and every type is welcome to discuss.

Unless of course the moderators don't like what you have to say, then censorship is alive in the org. And there is a lot of that. But that would be a thread in itself, entitled the moderators are stupid or something like that, and that thread would of course be destroyed.

I have also found it useful in knowing when Prince might be working on a new project or not. This is a one stop for that. I would have never known about 2010 without reading it on the org.
