Setlist In W2A Tour Book for DVD Release?

The songs listed in the back of the tour book make me think he's going to combine the shows into one DVD release. He's listed all the songs played so far from different shows (including the new songs) and those that have not been played yet will most likely be preformed in the up coming shows. I know it's wishful thinking, but a proper DVD release is long over due. This W2A shows would make a great DVD due to the amount of hits that were played. The tour book was planned and printed before the shows started, so he's not making up the setlist on the fly. Bringing all the stars up on stage to show who was there would make more sense too. Oh well, we can only hope....

U might not like the taste, but I'm still going to stick your face in this Funk

Prince couldn't get funding for a DVD release if his life depended on it. Not gonna happen.

Setlists are never made on the fly, the tour book would've been planned and printed in advance, and so would the rehersals for the tracks they're gonna play - the band can't play songs they don't know. They might not perform the same tracks every night, but for every tour there's a core setlists with which Prince plays around with.

Hi folks,

So sorry to ask a silly question but anyone who has seen the W2A concerts were filmed? Were there any cameras going on around the arenas?Whoever said that Prince couldn't get funding for a commercial Dvd release,I think the people who attended these recent shows would get their hands on it.Peace!

Timing would be off. Christmas would be the best time for such a release. You would be looking at the earliest March to complete such a production. And that should accomplanying a new album. But it doesn't make sense.

I think Prince is playing these end of the year shows for tax reasons.

I was under the impression that these were the songs that he planned on doing throughout the course of the NYC/NJ shows. He's done some of them so far but he's got 2 more shows and different guests to mix it up with. He's still yet to announce who will be with him on the 18th of January.

When eye go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all heart up in the house but when eye log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

Now THAT I can count on.

P could do a DVD with the producers of the concert who may BEG him to put out a DVD to make $ when he's no longer DOING a 'Welcome 2 America' Tour.

Peace ... & Stay Funky ...

He's probably going to just play a sample then go, "You ain't ready for this," or something.

He played the music with the band for Soft and Wet, Party Up and I wanna Be Your Lover at the Visage 2 aftershow. I've been hoping he would do these with vocals at the W2A shows. The tour book and the two remaining shows still give me hope that he will preform them. Even though I prefer a full concert from one night, a compilation of these show could really be great if done right.

If Prince could get funding for the Live at the Aladdin dvd I see no reason why he couldn't get it now. Remember, in 2002/2003 Prince was "dead" to the general public. He has a much higher profile now than he did then.

21 Nights in London could have been the source of a wonderful DVD and CD set, consisting of main concert and aftershow material. Multiple ones even. But it ended in a pointless book with a nice CD that was too short considering the wonderful series of concerts. You can not apply logic to that part of his business. My guess would be he tries to shield of the registering of the live events as much as possible to keep the demand going for something you can only experience by being there.

There was a video camera right in front of me, and it was pointed right at us a few times.

Question 4 those who attended, did they show any of the crowd shots on the jumbo screens? If not, then they just may be saving it 4 a potential DVD.

I wonder if he realizes how much the fans really want a proper HD 5.1 DVD release. If there was only a way to communicate that to him. A petition or something. Though I doubt it would make a difference. He seems to do what he wants no matter what others think. He's let us down so many times before when it comes to this, like I said ...we can only hope!

That was back when he had a distribution deal with Universal. They put up the money. He has no such deal at the moment.

You mean blu-ray? HD-DVD was discontinued a few years ago.
