I'm thinking it's by someone in his camp. The information tweeted from that account has been spot on during this concert series. I haven't seen any indication that it is fake.

For starters, they've never posted a single piece of information that hasn't already been discussed on fan forums beforehand or posted by another source.

Secondly, they've posted incorrect information that Lenny Kravitz was going to jam on stage with Prince in Europe and he didn't.

Thirdly, Doctor Funkenberry (a REAL source for Prince information) says it's fake.

Fourthly, the account ran a "competition" to win tickets.... the "winner" started using Twitter at almost exactly the same time the Prince_Live account was started.

Fifthly, the account is not verified. Even minor celebrities get their accounts verified if there's any question of it being legitimate or not.

Sixthly, the account made an ambiguous tweet regarding "Glastonbury", ie Prince playing Glastonbury Festival next year. There's no way in HELL Prince would confirm a festival 6 months ahead of time, it's not and never has been his style. If you know anything about Prince, you'd know that. People with proven connections to the Prince camp have stated he hasn't talked to the Glastonbury organizers, AT ALL.

Seventhly, the background is a straight web rip from Live Nation's Welcome 2 America promo's. The account picture is an exclusive candid picture that Prince gave to Dr Funkenberry nearly TWO years ago.

Yes, it could be fake. However, I still enjoy the information that comes from that account. That line you mentioned was in quotes. It could have easily been some inside joke or funny line someone said during the concert backstage. The fact that he is following no one, however, made me smile a little bit.

I hope it's real (at least to the extent of being someone in his camp, approved by P, etc...), but I don't really have any expectations either way.

So @MSGnyc is a verified account and it is CC'ing the @Prince_Live account with respect to buying tickets, and the @Prince_Live account is currently having a competition where ticket-holders to the upcoming concert could get to go backstage.

Soooo...either MSG need to cut ties with this account because it's fake and having phoney competitions in connection to events at its venue (which is surely grounds for getting it shut down?), or whoever has that account is connected enough to arrange backstage passes...

Maybe P's just testing the waters before confirming anything? Seeing if it 'takes', rather than starting a verified account and then shutting it down because it's not working out (which would go down like a lead balloon with fans). Just a thought.

If not, someone at MSG urgently needs to do more thorough research.

How about adding Gav the owner of MoQuake to the list of people saying it's fake? Another person, like Funkenberry, with a direct line to Prince.

So, the most compelling evidence against the account I've seen so far is over at MoQuake, where someone did some awesome detective work and discovered the photo posted by @Prince_Live, supposedly of backstage at MSG, in a German blog entry from November (http://blog.leica-camera....-mannheim/ - second photo).

That pretty much seals the deal for me. I'm still amazed that the official MSGnyc twitter account is CC'ing this person in on their Prince tweets...
