Welcome 2 America: Lots of Empty Seats

I was looking at pictures from the most recent gig at MSG and it seems as though the building is no where near being sold out. The upperdeck looks like it has a ton of seats that were never sold.

Can anyone confirm what I am seeing?

This makes absolutely no sense to me. Why would they leave? Were they truly party poopers or were they under the impression that the concert was over...(How if the music hadn't stopped yet?) Or perhaps, they weren't used to a real band that actually jams during a set and got bored and decided it was getting late and left. << Now that right there is a party pooper indeed!

Seems like izod Friday night has some empty seats really high up. But not a lot. I didn't see many MSG empty seats once P started playing. I do think many ppl got to their seats right before P started to play.

I was at MSG. That shit was sold out completely. take it from me I didn't have a ticket at first and stood in a line outside waiting to buy cancellation will call tickets. I almost got jacked by a scalper but then lucked out and found a lady with 3 tickets, pretty good seats taboot, and bought them with two other ladies in line with me. That stadium was filled to the rim unlike Izod that did have some empty seats the night before.

I think people dont want to pay those prices to see othes artists at a Prince concert. They think it is less Prince and more Mint Condition or Larry Graham. I would think twice about laying out a couple hundred if I didnt think I was going to get 2+ hours of Prince and nothing but Prince.

I can concur with Pej, MSG was packed like a rush hour subway train here in NYC lol It's NJ, specifically Wednesday's show, where there were a lot of empty seats. I personally think that Live Nation didn't do enough to promote the shows here in NYC but that's me on the issue.

Prince has been pulling that trick since the Diamonds and Pearls tour. When you hear "thank you, good night", I think most people would tend to believe the show to be over, since that's the way it is for all other artists I have seen. I can understand why a lot of people wouldn't know, if they had never seen a Prince concert before. Kind of shitty, when you think about it!

I wouldn't leave until alllll the lights came on and they started packing up equipment...I thought that's the way it should be...*shrug* Oh, well. I'm not mad. If people start leavin' early that means closer seats for me...cuz I do plan on movin' up!

Because I didn't try to get tickets thinking it was sold out. (which it was) And, thereore no, there was no money coming out of my pockets.

I never leave until I the folks tell me to leave. Cause even when they start packing up equipment, Prince has come back out. Like he did in Copenhagen! So I wait until they say its time to get out!lol It annoys me when people sit there waiting for him to come back but won't scream or anything to get him to come back. I was like "c'mon folks, let Prince HEAR YOU!!!"

Prince is GORGEOUS. I'm inspired. GOD is GREAT. Is there anything else to say? lol

I preferred the 15th show...I had the entire front row in my section to just me and 2 other girls. We got to dance our butts off!!! It was GREAT! The 17th show was hard because it was filled up and everyone was sitting down. Didn't bother me though, I stood up and danced the entire show....too bad for them they just sat there and was getting mad because I wouldn't sit down. I said "sorry, don't come to a Prince concert to sit down. Who does that?" The couple behind me was pissed! lol I started out dancing on the steps, but the folks there was like, stand in front of your chair. And i was in the front of the stage on the lower level, 3rd row back and I was getting down, just me and this one french guy. A bunch of boring people on the 17th in my section! I was like, oh well, I'm dancing my butt off!!

oh i had 2 crazies next to me on the 17th that were dancing so crazy the girl kept bumping into me and i barely had room to dance myself! pissed me off. the 15th i had a aisle seat and the 18th the two seats next to me were empty.got an aisle seat for the next one...i usually hate aisle seats cause of all the drunks constantly buying beer and going to pee...

MSG was COMPLETELY sold out there was NOT ONE EMPTY SEAT IN THE HOUSE, however there were PLENTLY of available seats at IZOD (only 70% full) and yes alot of ppl left in the middle of the show probably becauese the sound was terrible, the NJ crowd is ALOT like the Long Island crowd, STALE and CHEAP.....those that didnt go to IZOD missed out, the same $500 VIP section seat at MSG, only cost $173 the day of the show at IZOD but was not labeled VIP the day of the show, and the best "VIP" section seats were still available the day of the IZOD shows, Live Nation clearly marked down the price point and not very many ppl knew.....

IZOD shows were awesome...I had $20.10 tickets both nights and ended up with lower level seats both nights! Those seats were like what $179? So awesome! It was a nice surprise since I had great seats for the cancelled 14th show. Both nights upgraded...GOD is so good to me!! biggrin

Nah...I was at the Garden gig..packed house...The only show that wasn't capacity was one of the Izod Center gigs...

But you have to be careful with basing opinions on photos...You don't know when or what time they were taken...Case in point, the Garden gig didn't begin to fill up until 8:30 or so....People showed up late because they knew there was an opening act....Welcome to showbiuz...

The place was packed on 12/18. You must have seen the pic of when people were just coming in. Also, when Sinbad was on, people were still filing in. It didn't start filling up until Larry Graham was on, and basically filled to capacity by the time Prince came on.

You can bet it was. There were empty seats when Sinbad came on, because people were still coming in. People were out in the lobby area downstairs purchasing t-shirts/hats/posters, before they came into the arena. I got into the arena about 10-15 minutes after Sinbad came on because I stopped to buy posters. They had tables of merchandise on two sides of the lobby. It definitely was packed in all sections. That OP must have seen the early pic that a fan posted who got there early, way before the show started.
