Thats a tough one. I have to favor the 91-96 NPG slightly. The Revolution though was great too. Hands down his best two bands. None of the others can compete

Prince and the Revolution FTW

i was listening to DMSR live w/ the Revolution the other day, and was knocked out by the keyboards.
That's what I really miss; the prominence of whatever Dr. Fink (or Lisa? or both?) was doing.
Instrument for instrument, i prefer the npg, whatever 'npg' means (1990 - today?), but the energy of the revolution was just once in a lifetime fun.
and those keyboards, oh wow, those keyboards drive me wild.

- For ME, NPG will be always the 90-95 band (specially Bland, Sonny, Barbarella). It was an unique period in PrinceĀ“s career (tight hard funk). Prince should have changed the name of the following bands, IMO. [Edited 12/19/10 14:23pm]

NPG but I'm biased. I was born during that prince era.

Yeah I love some sax play but you can't touch the synth/keyboards of Matt Fink, I love his solo on Head in all it's manifestations,

I've always enjoyed The Revolution, The Revolution always complimented Prince, they were y always be the funkiest 2 me! The NPG style is an extended evolution 2 Prince y their style now is superior but The Revolution is the epitome! Dr. Fink y Lisa Coleman had the skills on the synths, Brown Mark funked it up with the bass, Wendy had it but in comparison. . . Can't happen! I still feel after all that has happened between them, they can reunite y give the diehard fans some un4gettable shows! That's magic! Once I Start Loving U, Baby, I'm Gonna Never Stop! Never Stop! Never Stop, Never Stop, Never Stop, No!

I think he always got great bands/musicians and The Revolution always reminds us at that great Prince period.
But I don't think they could play DMSR like Rhonda & Co on the Musicology tour!!!! He has a great band band 4 each period in his life & music. Love4oneanother

I've heard so many different renditions. the noituloveR did very good sounds
The sound was just different for each tour 1999-Parade, I also like the way the SOTT/Madhouse group performed it ie Fine Line Cafe and Prince adding his America guitar solo

The creations both groups made contribute to a beautiful painting of sort but, it's very difficult to choose. I am a fan of the NPG Era music first because that's when I became a fan of P's art.
I had to come back and add to what I said earlier ... [img:$uid]http://l.yimg.com/us.yimg.com/i/mesg/emoticons7/9.gif[/img:$uid] Peace ... & Stay Funky ...

What do you mean by tightness?
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
with Tightness i mean, sounding tight playing as a band together.
The NPG playing on The Gold Experience is one of the tightest band i have ever heard in popular music.
