I've never done a drug or smoked a cigarette in my life. For awhile, it was because I knew they were bad/would make me stink. But after awhile, it became something like a badge of honor.

I'm not afraid now to smoke a cigarette or even try pot, but I never will because I've got this 52-year-long streak going, and breaking it now just seems so pointless.

Plus, I would never, ever smoke cigarettes anyways. They kill you, make you stink, screw up your teeth, and make your house, clothes and car smell like crap.

Sure, I've done plenty of stupid things when drunk. But then I sobered up, and if I'd made a bad decision while drunk, I fixed it.

What the "Prince did ecstasy" crowd would have you believe is that:

1. While sober, he recorded an album; then

2. He got high once on ecstasy and decided it was a bad album; and then

3. While high, he decided not to release it; and then

4. He sobered up and decided not to do ecstasy any more; but

5. He decided to stick with a major, career-affecting decision he had made while under the influence of something he decided was bad for him.

Prince is an awesome musician and a very interesting person, but he's not God or a god. But I get where you're coming from.

I do know people that got into drugs who had, for years, shouted from the rooftop that drugs were only for stupid people. That happens.

But to think that Prince would do drugs once and stick to a major, career-affecting decision while made under the influence of that drug the only time he took it makes no sense.

I could believe the story if the part about Prince pulling an album's release wasn't in it.

+1. I would've taken more offense to how Prince has screwed his bandmates and fans over end on end than his little experimentation with drugs.

he's a rock star!i've read alot books and alot of the claims on how he'd get pissed off at band members doing drugs. i'd believe that more over him doing them. but who knows he could have tried it once or twice. who cares. sounds more like a crock of shit. what about this part of a book...ahh yes the first book in my pile i open

the prelude to possessed about how he was in the ER with heart palpitations after taking too much aspirin while drinking wine. i could believe that in a sense of how i can't even stand in heels yet alone be in them nonstop,dancing,jumping off a piano...his poor body gotta hurt after all those yrs in heels.

yeah I do not think it ever was or is a problem. Has he ever been on stage (at a scheduled apperance) drunk? Or has he ever been too drunk to preform? Ever gotten a Public Intox charge? or a DWI (remember when he used to drive?)

that was not scheduled. he was just at the show and was called on stage so I exculed that example. (and I am pretty sure he was on more than just life that night)

I'm pretty positive that he was on drugs at least during the black album period, the lyrics hint at it a lot. I wouldn't be suprised if he's been a regular drug taker since the beginning though but if that's the case he's done a damn good job of keeping it secret!

Hey, lets face it clearly: Prince is genius.

Not becose he has ths of fans or his songs received lots of awards blablabla.

His music is very specific - and that could be created only by genius.

But genius couold not be perfect.

On the other hand I don1t care about the past: he definitely DOES NOT take any drugs today
