What an incredible moment. Purple Rain was just about to drop and he was still high off his success with 1999. It had to be a really creative, inspiring, and high energy time. It doesn't surprise me that every single thing he did at the time was on fire. He had so much going for him.

Those two days were The Pinnacle. It makes perfect sense, too, because 1983 was his best year and he closed out the last two days of it with three MASTERPIECES to stand the test of time. Perfect ending to a perfect year.

I agree about Erotic City and She's Always in my Hair, But I've never seen the magic with We Can Funk.

IDK. Something about the horns maybe, I'm not sure, i find the backwards sounds distracting. Not a terrible song by any means, but this is one of the outtakes where I can see why it's an outtake and he gave it to another artist (despite being on his own album)
