It's very over-the-top, but, having said that, it's the perfect guitar for Prince. No other star could rock something like that so convincingly and, let's be honest, we need our Prince with a guitar like that.
I do prefer the cleaner, more futuristically looking gold symbol guitar, but I'd take a live solo on Gold on this new one any day. Is it just wishful thinking, hoping he'll close one of the shows playing Gold on this guitar? | |

I agree with a previous post...it doesn't look good. and while the guitar is covered in gold leaf, why is it being showed on a nasty piece of plywood..ugh!

interesting that Prince left the traditional 3 single coil pickups instead of having it changed to his preferred single coil and humbucker set up that he has on his other Strats.
i would still have preferred this auctioned guitar to be a cloud. it would have been that much more special. [Edited 12/15/10 9:17am] | |

Yeah be careful. I went to an auction once. Where everything was sold in bulk. Pallet fulls.
I playfully bid really low on a couple of things and to my complete and utter shock I won! I was responsible of hauling it all away by the end of the day. Yikes! I didn't know what to do with all that's stuff. Luckily before the end of the day I was able to sell it all and make some good money without touching it. | |

It's great that the proceeds are going to a good cause, that is most important, Bravo Prince!
If you look at the guitar carefully, Prince WILL NOT be playing this is concert. Why? If you look at the pick ups, they are not Prince EMG set up and I'm sure he's not going to change what he's be rocking for years. This is just a give away piece that Prince will be associated with in name only. __________________________________________________

As part of the live events, Prince will play a solid gold Fender ® Custom Stratocaster® guitar master‐built by Senior Master Builder Yuriy Shishkov. At the end of the run, the guitar will be auctioned off to benefit the Harlem Children’s Zone. The Harlem Children Zone (www.hcz.org) is a community based organization serving over 17,000 children living in Harlem NYC.
