While he sounds genuinely concerned about the technical issues, he sounds in great spirit. New York must be treatin' you well, Prince... getting to see him on stage while he's in such a good mood would be a treat.

Hope they work out whatever issues they have. He could always make it up by doing a longterm residency somewhere smile

I do not know if it was my connection or what but whenever he was talking about sound issues, the sound was in and out. Weird.

Also! Prince needs to get in touch with George Lucas. Lucas revolutionized sound for movie theaters. maybe he can do the same for concert venues!

Prince surprised everyone by showing up at a local radio station this morning. The interview was not as in depth as WBLS. Prince seemed very annoyed at Live Nation stating that he's having sound problems at Izod Center. His parting comments to his fans was not to worry if they have to cancel a show, they will be back to make up any dates. What radio station is he gonna hit next?

hmmm whistling

I knew from the start that I loved you with all my heart.

I LOVE when Prince is laughing at the "at least your boob didn't pop out" comment ... he just laughed & laughed in this deep, rugged, I just woke up, ain't awake yet kinda way. That was funny that he couldn't stop laughing!!

PLUS he was on a radio station in Lake Success, in other words, "No Where, Long Island" - 10 minutes away from my home eek

It reminded me of the laugh from the press conference where he was asked who'd win a fight between him and Michael Jackson. lol

I listened to some of the interview before going out for work. I could tell it was not going to be as good as the one with Egypt at WBLS.

Yes. He did this during the Musicology tour. Radio/tv appearances to promote it.

Those radio interviews during the Musicology tour were pretty fantastic.

I enjoyed this little interview so much! smile

He was very charming, and I agree with others who commented on his sleepy deep laugh...loved it.

He sounds happy (except for that sound issue. lol) and in a good place and a good mood. Nice hearing him like this.

Just hope he comes home to Minnesota soon so we can show him some in-person love too

I think Prince was better, but those two KTU deejays are annoying as all get out.

Agreed. He actually talked about challenges with upcoming shows (production wise), the possibilities of an album, and showcased his humor.

The Egypt interview didn't even give the dates for the shows... and was about her wanting to kiss his poster. Cute but not informative.

Anyone hoping for the return of the old Prince must've been disappointed while listening to this interview. He seemed to quickly deflect any comment that wasn't clean by his standards.

Absolutely. Because the one thing you could count on Prince for, back in the day, was to go on the radio and swear up a storm. nod

I mean really.

I thought we were done with the "old Prince/new Prince" thing? That ish is like 12 years old now. I mean damn let it go people. Anyone still waiting for the return of that old Prince needs to get in line of those waiting for the return of the Lord, cuz He'll come back first.

Prince sounded great with this interview. Prince has been sounding great with all the interviews he's been doing. He's doing what he's supposed to be doing, promoting his stuff and getting someone like me ready and excited to see him again. I'm so stoked right now, you don't even know! I'm ready for my Purple Fix!!!! lol

I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

Listening right now. Lol he was really humorously honest in this interview. Glad Cubby and them brought him out lol. He had a deep ghostly laugh after his first jokey-joke.

And I'm getting so surprised that's he actually referring back to his past and saying what he remembers. It's shocking. I'm glad though. He was really fading in and out with the microphone at times, had to really quiet down and listen

And what's up with this man not eating his breakfast first wink

Thanks for the link!

Yes, at 19, I finally saw the Revolution, a legendary band. And I talked to Wendy!!! biggrin In addition to seeing Prince, I have now lived life. Thank you Purple People!!

As this was a total surprise I dont know if anyone will have a link to the interview, so here is a quick recap of what went down. Interview started with how tired he was from rehearsing for the upcoming shows. DJ asked him how rehearsals were going and he stated last night was tough because he is having sound issues. DJ asked what kind of issues and Prince said "did you hear my guitar at the superbowl"? This is the point where he sounded very annoyed at Live Nation emphasizing the "Live" in their name. They spoke about some of his favorite songs to play as well as songs of other artists he wrote for. In particular talking about Stand Back by Stevie Nicks and told the story of how he came to work on that song. Before a break DJ asked him to say 1035 KTU and he said "I need something in order to do that". DJ laughed and said "I can give you 5 bucks" Prince laughed and said I dont need none of that "I just need a cup of coffee". For the record, Prince never said 1035 KTU. After the break he asked him a few questions about his songs and what's in store for the upcoming shows. Prince said it will be a different show every night with many great artists performing with him. The DJ asked him if he had any closing thoughts. Prince said he hopes to get all the issues worked out and wanted to let his fans know that if he must cancel a show, he will be back to make up any dates.
