Totally agree! It's some of his best and most mature work musically, but lyrically, it's weak.

It's a FANTASTIC album.
If I could have one wish request for the album it would be for b-sides and extended versions for songs like The Work, 1+1+1=3, Muse 2 The Pharaoh, She Loves Me 4 Me adn Everywhere

I liked the music. The lyrics were pretty much a watchtower bible tract society sales pitch. |

You know what? Maybe me and you are listening to a completely different record? The one I tried listening to a couple of times has no redeeming qualities whatsoever.
At first I thought these folks were just pulling our leg just to see how many times they can get us to pull this abomination out to give it another spin while laughing their ass off. But I think they are serious. |

I hear you. With this album, Prince broke my heart. He was not the person I thought he was. I wonder if he regrets this one. He once apologized for the Black Album maybe some day he'll do the same for this one. At the Celebration where he unveiled this beast, I saw one girl reduced to tears.

I agree completely. After I listened to this album, upon release, I virtually stopped listening to all Prince music until I heard some semblance of sanity in "Musicology"... Up until TRC, I was a completely loyal fan, bought all the releases, etc... but I refused to buy TRC.
I've revisited this album a couple of times through the years and it continues to be revolting. |

Girls?? Are you wearing loafers because you seem confused... particularly the idea of a 'perfect' Prince. |

Possibly because she realised she had just wasted $250 on a weekend that was perfect just to hear this piece of shit. If it had been me, I would have asked Prince for my money back and then begged him not to release it. [Edited 12/11/10 0:50am] So what are u going 2 do? R u just gonna sit there and watch? Though the lyrics are sometimes too fundamentalistist for my taste. It doesn't bother me, though, I never did agree or resonate with any of his religious inclinations. |
